The Rhode Island banking crisis took place in the early 1990s,when approximately a third of the US state of Rhode Island's population lost access to funds in their bank accounts. The events were triggered by the failure of a Providence bank,Heritage Loan &Investment,due to long-term embezzlement by its president. News of its problems led to a bank run in which customers tried to withdraw money from the bank which did not have enough money available. In normal circumstances,depositors would be protected by the bank's insurance,but the state's private insurer had a long history of problems and was unable to fulfill its commitments. When the insurer collapsed,Governor Bruce Sundlun announced the closure of 45 credit unions and banks just hours after his inauguration.

Andler has been recognized for her service to at-risk children and youth.
Timothy Sean Driscoll is an American judge,serving as a justice in the trial level Supreme Court of Nassau County,New York. He has served in that court's specialized Commercial Division from 2009 to the present. He is a leader among New York judges in the Commercial Division,and in the national community of specialized business court judges. Before becoming a judge,he served in the executive branch of county government,served as both a federal and local prosecutor in criminal matters,and held a prestigious judicial clerkship in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
James M. Alexander is a retired American judge who served on Michigan's Sixth Judicial Circuit Court in Oakland County for 19 years. He served in the Family Court for his first nine years,and in the newly created Business Court for his last seven as one of its original judges,writing hundreds of business court legal opinions over that time. He has held significant leadership positions as a judge,and received numerous awards and honors for his public service.
Richard B. McNamara is a retired American judge who served on New Hampshire's Superior Court for eleven years,after being selected as the state's first business court judge. He was recruited out of law school to serve as a prosecutor in the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office,where he handled murder cases very early in his career. He has authored leading New Hampshire law treatises on criminal and civil law topics. He was president of New Hampshire's Bar Association,and worked as a commercial litigator for 30 years at one law firm before his appointment as a judge to New Hampshire's specialized Business and Commercial Dispute Docket.
