Michael Brockenhuus-Schack (born 20 April 1960) is a Danish count, landowner, chamberlain[ further explanation needed ] and board member. He owns Giesegaard and Juellund at Ringsted.

Early life and education

Michael Brockenhuus-Schack is the son of count Niels Brockenhuus-Schack and his wife Madeleine Maria née d'Auchamp. He has a bachelor of Business from Copenhagen Business School (1983) and a cand.agro. degree from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University (1989). [1]

Career

Brockenhuus-Schack worked for Danske Bank in 1988-95. He took over the family estate after his father in 1993. [2] He was chair of Landbrug & Fødevarer in 2009-11. He has been a board member of Realdania since 2006 and the chair since 2014. He has been a board member of Det Classenske Fideicommis since 2007.

Personal life

He is married to Ulla Brockenhuus-Schack who is a managing partner in Seed Capital. They have two children. [3] He was operated on for colorectal cancer in 2011. [4]

Vennerslund is a manor house located 11 km northwest of Nykøbing on the island of Falster in southeastern Denmark. The estate has belonged to the Grandjean family since 1809. The new and old main buildings were both listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places by the Danish Heritage Agency on 13 April 1950. Juellund is a manor house and estate in Ringsted Municipality, Denmark. It was established by Jens Juel in 1694 but has been part of the Giesegaard estate since 1751.

Giesegaard

Giesegaard is a manor house and estate located in Ringsted Municipality in Denmark. The estate is owned by Michael Brockenhuus-Schack and has been owned by members of the Schack/Brockenhuus-Schack family since 1736. The oldest part of the main building was built in 1751 for countess Anna Sophie Schack but it was later expanded by an extra storey in 1847 and adapted in 1873 and again in 1904. It now appears as a two-storey, white-plastered building with two octagonal towers and black-glazed tile roofs. The estate covers 3,115 hectares of land.

Kjærstrup Danish manor house/estate

Kjærstrup, or Kærstrup, is a manor house and estate located 9 kilometres East of Rødbyon Lolland, Lolland Municipality, in Southeastern Denmark. The two-storey, half-timbered main building was faced with brick in 1836 and a central tower in the front was added in 1868. The building was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1918. The adjacent farm buildings date from the early 1910s and are not part of the heritage listing. A Baroque style garden from around 1765 was restored in around 1900. The estate covers 487 hectares of land.
