In 1995, police officer Michael Cox of the Boston Police Department was severely beaten by fellow officers while working in plain clothes. His story was the subject of the book The Fence, written by author and former Boston Globe reporter Dick Lehr. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

In November 2013, it was reported that the police officer, Michael A. Cox Sr., is the father of former UMass Minutemen and New York Giants running back Michael Cox. [7]

As of 2013, Cox had advanced to Deputy Superintendent in the Boston Police Department (BPD). [7] By 2019, Cox had advanced to Superintendent, the second highest rank in the BPD, serving as leading the Bureau of Professional Development and the Police Academy. [8]

In September 2019, Cox was sworn in as the new Chief of police for Ann Arbor, Michigan. [9] In 2022, he was appointed Commissioner of the BPD by Mayor Michelle Wu. [10]

Snelgrove was an American journalism student at Emerson College in Boston, who died after being shot by officer Rochefort Milien of the Boston Police Department using a less-lethal weapon. William Bratton American police officer

Daniel J. Oates is the former Police Chief of Miami Beach, Florida. He is also the former Police Chief of Aurora, Colorado He was also formerly the Chief of Police and Safety Services Administrator for the City of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Oates was appointed Chief of Police on August 20, 2001 after serving 21 years in the New York Police Department. In August 2002, Oates became Ann Arbor's first Safety Services Administrator. He is a charter member of the federal Criminal Intelligence Coordinating Council. While with the Aurora Police Department, he was responsible for the criminal investigation of a 2012 mass shooting at a local movie theater, which was one of the largest mass shootings in American history.

Michael A. Cox Jr. is a former American football running back. He was drafted by the Giants in the 7th round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He played college football as an undergraduate for the Michigan Wolverines, and as a graduate student for the Massachusetts Minutemen.

Joseph Michael Jordan was an American law enforcement officer who served as Commissioner of the Boston Police Department from 1976 to 1985. He was the first uniformed BPD officer to rise through the ranks to become commissioner.

William B. Evans

William B. Evans is currently serving as the executive director of public safety and chief of police of Boston College. Previously, Evans was the commissioner of the Boston Police Department from January 2014 until August 2018. Evans served as interim commissioner from November 2013 until he was permanently appointed by newly elected mayor Marty Walsh. He announced his retirement from the Boston Police Department in July 2018. He currently serves as the chief of the Boston College police department. A graduate of Suffolk University, Evans holds a master’s degree in criminal justice from Anna Maria College. He is known for co-authoring The New York Times bestseller and Edgar Award winner Black Mass: Whitey Bulger, the FBI and a Devil’s Deal, and its sequel, Whitey: The Life of America’s Most Notorious Mob Boss with fellow journalist Gerard O'Neill.
