Mike Verich was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1983 to 1998. His district consisted of a portion of Trumbull County,Ohio. He resigned to take up a position on the Ohio State Employment Relations Board (SERB) before his ninth term commenced in January 1999. His brother Chris was appointed to succeed him. [1]

The Columbus Crew,formerly known as Columbus Crew SC,is an American professional soccer club based in Columbus,Ohio. The Crew competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference and began play in 1996 as one of the 10 charter clubs of the league. Incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Rob Portman faced former Democratic Governor Ted Strickland. Green Party nominee Joseph DeMare was also on the ballot along with two other independent candidates and one officially declared write-in candidate. This would be Rob Portman's final term in office before he retires in 2022.
