In church governance, a diocese or bishopric is the ecclesiastical district under the jurisdiction of a bishop.
The Episcopal Diocese of Washington is a diocese of the Episcopal Church covering Washington, D.C. and nearby counties of Maryland in the United States. With a membership of over 38,000, the diocese is led by the Bishop of Washington, Mariann Budde. It is home to Washington National Cathedral, which is the seat of both the diocesan bishop and the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church.
The Episcopal Church in North Texas is a diocese of the Episcopal Church, which in turn is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Robert Francis Vasa is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. On Monday, January 24, 2011, Vasa was named the coadjutor bishop to Bishop Daniel F. Walsh of the Diocese of Santa Rosa in California by Pope Benedict XVI. Until then, he had been the fifth bishop of the Diocese of Baker in Oregon. On 30 June 2011, Walsh's resignation was accepted by Pope Benedict XVI, and Vasa succeeded him as bishop.
The Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe is a jurisdiction of the Episcopal Church created in 1859 by an action of its general convention. The convocation includes all Episcopal congregations in continental Europe. Along with dioceses in New York, New Jersey, Haiti, Cuba, and the Virgin Islands it belongs to Province II of the Episcopal Church.

Katharine Jefferts Schori is the former Presiding Bishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church of the United States. Previously elected as the 9th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Nevada, she was the first woman elected as a primate in the Anglican Communion. Jefferts Schori was elected at the 75th General Convention on June 18, 2006, and invested at Washington National Cathedral on November 4, 2006, and continued until November 1, 2015, when Michael Bruce Curry was invested in the position. Daniel William Herzog is a retired American Anglican bishop. He served in the Diocese of Albany from 1998 to 2007. After his retirement, he became a Roman Catholic, but returned to the Episcopal Church three years later. He left it once again to join the Anglican Church in North America in 2021.
Thomas Edward "Tom" Breidenthal is the former bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio. On May 1, 2015, the Joint Nominating Committee for the Election of the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church placed Breidenthal's name into nomination for election as the 27th Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church. Michael Curry, who was then Bishop of North Carolina, went on to win the nomination. On September 18, 2020, Breidenthal announced his retirement on November 29, 2020, citing health issues.
