Michael L. W. Thewalt (born 5 December 1949 in Karlsruhe, Germany) [1] is a Canadian physicist. He received his BSc from McMaster University in 1972. His MSc and PhD were from the University of British Columbia in the mid-1970s. He teaches at Simon Fraser University and is known for researching semiconductors, [2] especially isotopically enriched silicon.
Simon Fraser University (SFU) is a public research university in British Columbia, Canada, with three campuses, all in Greater Vancouver: Burnaby, Surrey, and Vancouver. Dean Valli is an offensive lineman with the Canadian Football League's British Columbia Lions. Valli attended Simon Fraser University and played for their football team, the Simon Fraser Clan. He played four full seasons with the Clan from 2002 to 2005. Dean graduated with a bachelor of arts from Simon Fraser University in 2006. In 2005, Valli was named to the Canada West Universities Athletic Association all-star team. He also represented SFU at the 2005 East West Bowl held in Waterloo, Ontario. Michael Stevenson is President Emeritus and Vice-Chancellor of Simon Fraser University. He retired on August 31, 2010, and was succeeded by Andrew Petter on September 1, 2010. Stevenson's appointment as President of Simon Fraser University spanned a decade, the longest term of any president in the history of the university.

Robert Woodbury is a Canadian former sailor who was selected to compete in the Finn (dinghy) class in the 1980 Summer Olympics. Woodbury is University Professor in the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University. Woodbury holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Carleton University where he was awarded the Lieutenant Governor's Silver Medal in Architecture in 1981. He earned his Master of Science and Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University. He was a faculty member in Architecture and the Engineering Design Research Center at Carnegie Mellon University from 1982 to 1993, at Adelaide University in South Australia from 1993 to 2001, at the Technical University of British Columbia from 2001 to 2002 and is now at Simon Fraser University. He was founding Chair of the Graduate Program in the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at SFU. He was Scientific Director of the Canadian Design Research Network , the national association of design researchers in Canada.
The SFU Red Leafs football or Simon Fraser Red Leafs football team has represented Simon Fraser University since the athletic department's inception in 1965. The team played by American rules while they competed in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics from 1965 to 2001 against other American teams. Along with other SFU teams, the football program transferred to Canadian Interuniversity Sport and thereby switched to playing Canadian football against Canadian University teams in 2002. While playing in the CIS, SFU won its first and only Hardy Trophy conference championship in 2003 while qualifying for the playoffs twice. After playing eight seasons in the Canada West Conference of the CIS, the football team began competing in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference of NCAA Division II in 2010, and have played the American format of football again since. After the GNAC dropped football after the 2021 season, SFU and the other two GNAC members that still sponsored the sport became football-only members of the Lone Star Conference.

She is a member of the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and was one of the authors on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5 °C (SR15).Zickfeld completed a Master of Science degree in physics at the Free University of Berlin in 1998, followed by a doctorate in physics at the University of Potsdam in 2004.[7]
Stephanie Simmons is a Canadian Research Chair in Quantum Computing at Simon Fraser University. She was named by Caldwell Partners as one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40 in 2020. Her research considers the development of silicon-based systems for quantum computing. She is the founder and Chief Quantum Officer at Photonic Inc., a spin out company which focusses on the commercial development of silicon photonics spin qubits.
