Michael Peter Olsen (born June 28, 1974) is a Grammy nominated Canadian multi-instrumentalist, producer, engineer, composer and arranger currently based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Olsen has collaborated live on tour and on records with bands and artists such as: Arcade Fire, Drake, K-OS, Jim Guthrie, [1] Kevin Hearn, The Constantines, Gentleman Reg, Great Lake Swimmers [2] The Hidden Cameras. [3] [4] and Zoon.

He is also well known as a producer and has worked with critically acclaimed local talent such as Ohbijou, [5] and Spiral Beach,. [6] [7] Olsen was a founder and operator of the Toronto recording studio Uncomfortable Silence. [4]

Olsen currently fronts the Toronto band Our Founders, whose members include Spencer Cole of Weaves. [8] Their album, The Nines was released in October 2013 to good reviews. [9]

He was a Canadian Film Centre Slaight Music Lab Resident from 2014 to 2015 in Toronto. [10]

As a solo artist, Olsen released a full-length record entitled "Yearning Flow" in the spring of 2021 on the Canadian independent label Hand Drawn Dracula [11]

Friends in Bellwoods is a compilation album, released in 2007. It was the first release on Out of This Spark, through a distribution deal with Sonic Unyon Records. The album is named for a house on Bellwoods Avenue in Toronto, shared by two members of the band Ohbijou, which NOW has written "might just be the new epicentre of T.O.'s indie rock community". All of the featured artists are members or friends and collaborators of Ohbijou, and many of the tracks on the album were recorded in the house itself.

<i>Artifact</i> (film) 2012 American film

Artifact is a 2012 American documentary film directed by Jared Leto under the pseudonym of Bartholomew Cubbins. It was produced by Leto and Emma Ludbrook through their production company Sisyphus. Artifact chronicles the modern music business as it charts the legal dispute between Leto's rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars and record label EMI, which filed a $30 million breach of contract lawsuit against them in 2008, after the band tried to exit its contract over a royalties dispute. Thirty Seconds to Mars is shown working with producer Flood to create the 2009 album This Is War, meeting with lawyers between recording sessions.

Snowblink is an indie pop band based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Snowblink is now a duo of singer/songwriter Daniela Gesundheit and multi-instrumentalist Dan Goldman. The band has opened for Feist, Jeff Tweedy, Owen Pallett, Timber Timbre, Ohbijou, Great Lake Swimmers and The Hidden Cameras.

The Phonemes were a Canadian indie pop band from Toronto, Ontario, active in the 2000s. A trio whose core members were vocalist and songwriter Magali Meagher, bassist Liz Forsberg and drummer Matias Rozenberg, the group's two releases on Blocks Recording Club also featured guest contributions from Owen Pallett, Katie Crown, Bob Wiseman, Steve Kado and Leon Taheny.
