Poultney is a town in Rutland County in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Vermont. New York state is on its western border. Castleton, Vermont, is on its northern border. Poultney was home to Green Mountain College, a private liberal arts college that closed in 2019. The Village of Poultney is entirely within the town. The town population was 3,020 at the 2020 census.

For part of its history it was a women's college. It was founded in 1834 and closed at the end of the 2018–19 academic year.

The Rutland-1-1 Representative District is a one-member state Representative district in the U.S. state of Vermont. It is one of the 108 one or two member districts into which the state was divided by the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2000 U.S. Census. The plan applies to legislatures elected in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. A new plan will be developed in 2012 following the 2010 U.S. Census.

He served as the head football coach at Colorado Agricultural College—now known as Colorado State University—for one season, in 1910, compiling a record of 0–5. Cassidy was also the head basketball coach at Colorado Agricultural for the 1910–11 season, tallying a mark of 5–4. A native of Poultney, Vermont, Cassidy attended the University of Vermont and played on the football and baseball teams there.
Vermont Route 140 (VT 140) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Vermont. The highway runs 25.059 miles (40.329 km) from VT 30 in Poultney east to VT 103 in Mount Holly. VT 140 connects the southern Rutland County towns of Poultney, Middletown Springs, Tinmouth, Wallingford, and Mount Holly.
The East Poultney Historic District encompasses the historic center of the rural village of East Poultney, Vermont. The district is centered on the triangular green at the center of the village, and was developed mainly from the late 18th through mid-19th centuries, producing a village with strong Federal and Greek Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
The Hosford–Sherman Farm is a historic farm property on Vermont Route 30 in northern Poultney, Vermont. Established in the late 18th century, the farm includes the original farmhouse, now an ell to a 19th-century brick house, and a late 19th-century barn, along with more than 120 acres (49 ha) of farmland. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.
The Middletown Springs Historic District encompasses most of the village center of Middletown Springs, Vermont. Oriented around the crossroads junction of Vermont Routes 140 and 133, the village has a well-preserved collection of mainly mid-19th century architecture, including a significant number of Italianate buildings. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Built in 1885, it is a high quality example of Late Victorian Italianate architecture executed in brick. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, and has been converted into residential use.

The 2019–20 Plunket Shield was the 91st season of the Plunket Shield, the domestic first-class cricket competition in New Zealand. It took place between October 2019 and March 2020. Patricia A. McCoy is an American politician who serves as the Minority Leader in the Vermont House of Representatives and from the Rutland district as a member of the Republican Party. She has served as the town clerk and treasurer in Poultney, Vermont since 1991.

Castleton Four Corners is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Castleton, Rutland County, Vermont, United States. It consists of the unincorporated villages of Castleton Corners and Hydeville. As of the 2020 census, the CDP had a population of 699, out of 4,458 in the entire town.
