Michael S. Martin is a retired United States Marine Corps major general who has served as Assistant Deputy Commandant for Plans, Policies, and Operations since May 2023. [1] He most recently served as Director of Reserve Affairs of the United States Marine Corps from 2022 to 2023. He served as the Assistant Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration in 2022. [2] He most recently served as the Deputy Commander of the Marine Forces Reserve. Previously, he served as the Commanding General of the 4th Marine Division from September 8, 2018 to October 2, 2020. [3] [4] [5] [6]

FMFLANT is under operational control of the Commander-in-Chief, United States Fleet Forces Command, when deployed.

Joseph Francis Dunford Jr. is a retired United States Marine Corps four-star general who served as the nineteenth chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from October 1, 2015 to September 30, 2019. He was the thirty-sixth commandant of the Marine Corps. Dunford is the first Marine Corps officer to serve in four different four-star positions; the others include commander of the International Security Assistance Force and United States Forces – Afghanistan from February 2013 to August 2014, and as the thirty-second assistant commandant of the Marine Corps from October 23, 2010 to December 15, 2012.
