Michael Scott (born 9 February 1956) is a leading Australian sports administrator. He was the inaugural Director of the New South Wales Institute of Sport and the sixth Director of the Australian Institute of Sport. In September 2017, he was appointed chief executive officer of High Performance Sport New Zealand. [1]
He was born on 9 February 1956 in Melbourne, Victoria. [2] He has a Master of Science in Physical Education, Eastern Kentucky University. His son is Gavin Scott, born in 1993. He has just completed his Honours year at the University of Melbourne. His daughter, Tara Scott, was born 14 August 1996. Tara has battled type one diabetes since she was 11 years old.
Scott was a swimming and surf life saving representative for Victoria. [3] His first job in sport was as Head Coach of the Women's Swimming Team Miami University of Ohio. From 1991 to 1994, he was Director of Sport and Recreation Victoria. [4] From 1994 to 1997, he was the Chief Executive of South Australian Department of Sport and Recreation. [4] In 1997, he was appointed the inaugural Director of the New South Wales Institute of Sport. [4] In 2001, he was appointed the sixth Director of the Australian Institute of Sport, a position which he held until 2005. [3] From 2005 to 2007, he was the chief executive officer for the 2007 World Aquatics Championships. [4] In 2008, he was appointed National Performance director for British Swimming. [4] He resigned from the position in November 2012 after a review required him to work full-time in Great Britain. Whilst holding the position, he split his time between Australia and Great Britain. [5] In April 2013, he was appointed Director of High Performance at Swimming Australia. [6] In February 2015, he accepted the position of CEO of Rowing Australia. [7] In September 2017, he was appointed chief executive officer of High Performance Sport New Zealand. [1]
Other sports administration positions held by Scott include: Chairman of the National Elite Sports Council (1999), [4] Board Member of the Victorian Institute of Sport (1993–1994) [4] and Team Manager of the Australian Paralympic Swim Team at the 2000 Sydney Paralympics. [4]
Alexander Baumann, is a Canadian sports administrator and former competitive swimmer who won two gold medals and set two world records at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. In 2007, he was regarded by the CBC, the national broadcaster, as "the greatest swimmer in Canadian history", as the twin Olympic gold medals were Canada's first in swimming since 1912.

Priya Naree Cooper, is an Australian world champion disabled swimmer, winning nine Paralympic gold medals as well as world records and world championships. She competed in the Australian swimming team at the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Summer Paralympics with an S8 classification. She was twice the co-captain of the Australian Paralympic team, including at the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney, and carried the Australian flag at the closing ceremonies for the 1992 and 1996 Summer Paralympics. Cooper has cerebral palsy and spends much of her time in a wheelchair. She attended university, working on a course in health management. After she ended her competitive Paralympic career, she became a commentator, and covered the swimming events at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
Paralympics Australia (PA) previously called the Australian Paralympic Committee (APC) (1998–2019) is the National Paralympic Committee in Australia for the Paralympic Games movement. It oversees the preparation and management of Australian teams that participate at the Summer Paralympics and the Winter Paralympics.

Paul Anthony Thompson MBE is an Australian elite level rowing coach and former rower. As a rower he was an Australian under-age champion, won a silver medal at the 1985 U23 World Championships and rowed in senior King's Cup eights for both South Australia and New South Wales. He has coached Australian and British crews to World Championship titles and Olympic medals including taking Kate Slatter and Megan Still to Australia's first women's Olympic rowing gold at Atlanta 1996. By 2012 he was Great Britain's head coach for women and lightweights and took British crews to three gold and two silver medals at London 2012. Since 2022 he has been Rowing Australia's High Performance Director.
Disabled Wintersport Australia (DWA) was established in 1978 as the Australian Disabled Skiers Federation. Its current mission is "to promote and foster the advancement of participation by people with a disability in wintersport both in Australia and overseas". DWA is a member of the Australian Paralympic Committee. DWA plays a major role in the development of Australian athletes that compete at the Winter Paralympics.

Intellectual disability sport classification is a classification system used for disability sport that allows people with intellectual disabilities to fairly compete with and against other people with intellectual disabilities. Separate classification systems exist for the elite athlete with a disability side affiliated with the Paralympic movement and Virtus, and the sports for all model affiliated with Special Olympics. People with intellectual disabilities have issues with conceptual skills, social skills and practical skills. They have IQs of 75 points or lower, limitations in adaptive behaviour and their disability manifested and was documented prior to turning 18 years of age.
