Michel Bidimbou

Michel Bidimbou Pouela is a Congolese politician who has served as a Deputy in the National Assembly of Congo-Brazzaville since 2007.

Political career

Bidimbou was elected as Secretary-General of the Union for the Republic (UR), a small pro-government party led by Benjamin Bounkoulou, at a party meeting in Nkayi in December 2006. [1]

In the June–August 2007 parliamentary election, Bidimbou was elected to the National Assembly as the UR candidate in Kayes constituency, located in Bouenza Department. He received 51.83% of the vote. [2] When the National Assembly began meeting for its new parliamentary term, Bidimbou was designated as Secretary of the National Assembly's Defense and Security Commission on 18 September 2007. [3] However, the results of the election in Kayes were appealed to the Constitutional Court, and on 26 October 2007 the Constitutional Court overturned the results and ordered a new vote in the constituency. [4] Bidimbou won the re-vote, which was held on 7 December 2007, [5] [6] receiving 55.43% of the vote against Pierre Ngaka, an independent candidate. [7]

On 20 March 2011, strong winds damaged houses in Kiossi, a town in Bidimbou's constituency, leaving hundreds of people homeless and causing some injuries. Bidimbou subsequently appealed for help for the affected population, describing the situation in the town as "a humanitarian catastrophe". [8]

Bidimbou left the UR and joined the ruling Congolese Labour Party (PCT) in 2011. [9]

In the July–August 2012 parliamentary election, Bidimbou stood for re-election in Kayes, this time as a PCT candidate. In the first round of voting, he placed first with 24.16%, slightly ahead of Marc Makouanzi, an independent candidate, who received 22.66%. [10] He prevailed in the second round of voting with 56.74% of the vote. [11]

Pierre Ngolo is a Congolese politician who has been Secretary-General of the Congolese Labour Party (PCT) since August 2011. He was First Secretary of the National Assembly of Congo-Brazzaville from 2002 to 2012. He has served as the President of the Senate of Congo-Brazzaville since 2017.

Léon-Alfred Opimbat is a Congolese politician. He served in the government of Congo-Brazzaville as Minister of Health from 1992 to 1993 and as Minister of National Solidarity and Humanitarian Action from 1997 to 2002, with additional responsibility for the health portfolio beginning in 1999. Subsequently he was a Deputy in the National Assembly from 2002 to 2007 and again from 2007 to 2011. He was also President of the New Democratic Forces (FDN), a political party, from 2007 to 2011; when the FDN merged itself into the ruling Congolese Labour Party (PCT) in July 2011, Opimbat became a member of the PCT Political Bureau. He was Minister of Sports from 2011 to 2017, and he has been First Vice-President of the National Assembly since 2017.

Serge Michel Odzoki

Serge Michel Odzoki is a Congolese politician. A member of the Congolese Labour Party (PCT), he is a journalist by profession and worked for years as a diplomat before serving in the government of Congo-Brazzaville as Minister of Sports and Youth from December 2007 to September 2009. He has been a Deputy in the National Assembly since 2009 and Spokesman of the PCT since 2011.

Hellot Matson Mampouya is a Congolese politician who served in the government of Congo-Brazzaville as Minister of Scientific Research from 2007 to 2009, as Minister of Fishing from 2009 to 2012, as Minister of Primary and Secondary Education from 2012 to 2015, as Minister of Posts and Telecommunications from 2015 to 2016, and again as Minister of Scientific Research from 2016 to 2017. For years he was a leading member of the Congolese Movement for Democracy and Integral Development (MCDDI), but in 2013 he formed his own party, the Dynamic for the Republic and Recovery (DRD).

Euloge Landry Kolélas is a Congolese politician who served in the government of Congo-Brazzaville as Minister of Trade from 2015 to 2017. Previously he was a Deputy in the National Assembly from 2007 to 2012. He is the President of the Congolese Movement for Democracy and Integral Development (MCDDI), a political party, and has served as High Commissioner for the Reintegration of Former Combatants since 2017.

Sylvestre Ossiala is a Congolese politician. A specialist in the oil industry, he was a Deputy in the National Assembly of Congo-Brazzaville from 2002 to 2017. He was also the Second Vice-President of the National Assembly from 2012 to 2017.
