Michele DeJuliis is an American lacrosse administrator and former player. She was appointed as the commissioner of the inaugural United Women's Lacrosse League in 2015, [1] holding the position until December 2016. On May 23, 2013, DeJuliis was elected to the US National Lacrosse Hall of Fame. [2] As a player, she earned All-American honors at Penn State and captured a gold medal with the United States women's national lacrosse team at the 2009 Women's Lacrosse World Cup.

Career

DeJuliis attended Loch Raven High School, where she played soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. [3] A starter on the lacrosse team for all four years, she helped Loch Raven win back-to-back state titles during her first two seasons with the squad. [4] As a junior in 1992, DeJuliis was named The Baltimore Sun All-Metro Player of the Year after recording 90 goals and 34 assists. [5] As a senior, she was named The Baltimore Sun Baltimore City/County Player of the Year after recording 76 goals and 25 assists. [4]

Gaining All-America honors as a member of the Penn State Nittany Lions women's lacrosse team, she would amass 142 goals and 203 career points.

Of note, she was part of the US national team program since 1994. A former member of the United States national team, DeJuliis captured a gold medal at the 2009 Federation of International Lacrosse Women's Lacrosse World Cup. [6]

In January 2001, she founded The Ultimate Goal Lacrosse Club. DeJuliis would join the Princeton Tigers women's lacrosse program during the 2004–05 season in a role as offensive coordinator. [7]

Law enforcement

DeJuliis was a former member of the Baltimore Police Department from 1999 to 2004. During her time, she earned Meritorious Conduct Award and the Police Commissioner's Award of Excellence.[ citation needed ]

Taylor Cummings is a lacrosse midfielder, formerly for the University of Maryland's women's lacrosse team. Winning the Tewaaraton Trophy in 2014, 2015, and 2016, Cummings was once regarded as the best female collegiate lacrosse player in the country. She helped the Maryland Terrapins win two National Championships in 2014 and in 2015.

The United Women’s Lacrosse League (UWLX) was a women's lacrosse league in the United States. It was co-founded in Boston, Massachusetts, by Digit Murphy and Aronda Kirby of the Play It Forward Sports Foundation, under the ownership of United Women's Sports LLC in a strategic partnership with STX. Penn State women's lacrosse alum and former United States national team player Michele DeJuliis was appointed as the league’s first commissioner. DeJuliis left after the 2016 season to found the Women's Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL); Kristan Ash served as the second and final league commissioner.

Katie Schwarzmann is an American women's lacrosse player. Having played with the Maryland Terrapins at the collegiate level, she was a two-time winner of the Tewaaraton Trophy. She was also a member of the US national team from 2010 to 2013. In 2016, she was selected first overall in the inaugural United Women's Lacrosse League draft, selected by the Baltimore Ride.

Devon Wills is an American women's lacrosse player. Having played with the Dartmouth Big Green at the collegiate level, she would become the first female player to sign a contract with the New York Lizards of Major League Lacrosse.

The 2016 United Women's Lacrosse League season, the first in the history of the UWLX, started on May 28, 2016 and ended with the league championship game on July 31, 2016 in which the Long Island Sound defeated the Boston Storm in a 13-8 final.

Dana Dobbie is a Canadian women's lacrosse player and coach. Having played with the Maryland Terrapins at the collegiate level, she has also competed with the Canadian national team, winning the silver medal at the 2013 FIL World Cup. In 2016, she was selected by the Baltimore Ride as their first-ever selection in the inaugural United Women's Lacrosse League Draft. She also coaches at Loyola University.

Having played with the Northwestern Wildcats women's lacrosse at the collegiate level, she was named to the US national team for the 2015-16 season. In 2016, she was selected by the Philadelphia Force with their third pick overall in the inaugural United Women's Lacrosse League Draft.

Alyssa Leonard is an American women's lacrosse player. Having played with the Northwestern Wildcats women's lacrosse at the collegiate level, she was named to the US national team for the 2015-16 season.
