Mickey Whelan is former selector on the senior Dublin county team, he was a selector for Pat Gilroy who played for him while he managed St Vincent's. He is a former player and manager of Dublin and St Vincent's senior football teams. He is a former player for Clanna Gael and won a Dublin Senior Football Championship medal with them in 1968.
Whelan won a Cú Chulainn award for his performances with the Dublin senior football team in 1963. He was on the All-Ireland winning side for Dublin in 1963. He has won four Leinster Senior Football Championship medals with Dublin in 1959, 1962, 1963 and 1965.
Whelan had a very successful playing career with his clubs, he first won the Dublin Senior Football Championship with Clanna Gael in 1968. Then, he went on to win the Dublin championship with St Vincents in 1976 and 1977. He won a Leinster Senior Club Football Championship and All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship with Vinnies during 1975-76.
Whelan's managerial success began in 2004, when he guided St Vincents to the Dublin U-21 Football Championship. Whelan was the Dublin senior football manager between 1995 and 1997. In 2006, as St Vincents manager, he brought his side to the final of the Dublin football championship. In the semi-final on October 30, 2006 at Parnell Park, his team brushed aside northside rivals Na Fianna and go on to contest UCD in the final which they eventually lost. 2007 proved more successful, Whelan won the Dublin Senior Football Championship as manager of St Vincents. Mickey then went on to manage St Vincents to a win the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship final against Tyrrellspass of Westmeath. Whelan won the 2008 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship with St Vincent's as manager. [1] Whelan stepped down as manager of St Vincents only two weeks after their historic all-Ireland victory over Nemo Rangers in 2008. [2] When Pat Gilroy was appointed as Dublin senior football manager in 2008, Whelan was chosen as one of his selectors. This happened only a few months after Mickey had managed Pat to win the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Whelan was also a selector previously with Dublin for the minor footballers in 2003.

St Vincents is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Marino, on the northside of Dublin, Ireland. The club was founded in 1931 in Marino, instrumental in the founding of the club were Rev Dr William Fitzpatrick and Bro. Ernest Fitzgerald. Although its club grounds were in Raheny for a number of years, it moved to its home back into Marino in 1987. St Vincents merged with Marino Camogie Club in 1997 to form the St. Vincents Hurling, Football and Camogie Club. They have won the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship on three occasions, most recently in 2014. They are the most successful side in the Dublin Senior Football championship having won the title 29 times. The club has also won 14 Dublin Senior 1 camogie titles and completed a three in a row in 2015–2017.
Pat Gilroy is a former Gaelic footballer and manager, who most recently managed the senior Dublin county team (2009-2012). A former Dublin footballer himself, he led Dublin to their first All-Ireland Senior Football Championship title in 16 years in 2011.

Jackie Gilroy was a Gaelic footballer who played for St Vincents and the Dublin county team. He was born in Drumcondra, County Dublin. He won an All-Ireland medal with Dublin in 1963 as part of the Dublin senior football panel. Dublin defeated Galway in the final at Croke Park. Jackie won the All-Ireland Minor Football Championship with Dublin in 1958. Gilroy was the chairman of St Vincents GAA club from 1973 until 1977. He was the club secretary between 1978 and 1979 and then became the Chairman again for the term 1988 to 1989. Jackie spent his working life working in newspaper production. Jackie was the father of former Dublin senior football manager Pat Gilroy.

Bernard Laurence Gaughran, better known as Benny Gaughran is a solicitor and Gaelic footballer. He played Gaelic football at a senior level in four different decades starting in the 1960s with Clan na Gael (Louth), UCD (Dublin), Civil Service (Dublin) and St Sylvester's (Dublin) GAA clubs and was a member of the Louth Minor & Senior inter-county teams from the 1960s until the 1980s and the Dublin Over 40s team in the 1990s. He received several All Stars nominations, and won an All-Ireland Club medal with UCD (Dublin), three Dublin Championship medals, a National League medal, a Railway Cup medal, a Sigerson’s medal and many other honours. He was also selected on numerous occasions for the combined universities’ teams and the Leinster team.
