Mike Lindberg (born January 1941) [2] is an American politician who served on the Portland,Oregon City Council from 1979 until 1996. His tenure of 17 years,three months was the longest of any city commissioner in the past 40 years,as of 2009; [2] Lindberg's tenure was surpassed in May 2016 by that of Dan Saltzman.
Lindberg was appointed to the council in September 1979, [3] to fill a seat caused by the appointment of Connie McCready to the position of mayor. [4] [5] He was subsequently elected to the office and served until the end of 1996,when he retired. [2] He currently works as a lobbyist and political consultant.
Lindberg is a 1963 graduate of the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in economics.
Lindberg is married to his (second) wife Carolyn and he had one daughter,Lisa,and twin boys from his first marriage. He was raising his granddaughter,Caitlin,after Lisa's death at 43 in 2007. [5] [6]
In 2006,Lindberg was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy. [5]

The government of Portland,Oregon is based on a city commission government system. Elected officials include the mayor,commissioners,and a city auditor. The mayor and commissioners are responsible for legislative policy and oversee the various bureaus that oversee the day-to-day operation of the city. Portland began using a commission form of government in 1913 following a public vote on May 3 of that year. Each elected official serves a four-year term,without term limits. Each city council member is elected at-large. In 2022,Portland residents approved a ballot measure to replace the commission form of government with a 12-member council elected in four districts using single transferable vote,with a professional city manager appointed by a directly-elected mayor,with the first elections to be held in 2024.
Steven "Steve" Novick is a former American politician,attorney,and activist from the U.S. state of Oregon. Most recently he served a four-year term as a Portland City Commissioner –a member of the City Council of Portland –from January 2013 to January 2017. He was elected in May 2012 and assumed office on January 1,2013. In 2008,he ran for the Democratic Party's nomination for the United States Senate,for the seat then held by Republican Gordon Smith,but narrowly lost to Oregon House speaker Jeff Merkley. On the Portland city council,he was in charge of the city's transportation department,among other responsibilities. Novick ran for re-election to the city council in 2016 but lost to Chloe Eudaly. Starting in 2018,he works as an attorney for Oregon Department of Justice.
Dan Saltzman is a politician in the U.S. state of Oregon who served as a commissioner on the City Council of Portland in Portland,Oregon,from 1999 through the end of 2018. As of 2017,he had served longer on the Council than any other person since 1969.
Constance McCready,was an American journalist and politician from Portland,Oregon,in the United States. She held several elected offices in Oregon during her career,including the Oregon House of Representatives,the Portland City Council,and culminating with a partial term as Portland's mayor. To date,McCready remains the last Republican to serve as mayor of the city.

Portland City Hall is the headquarters of city government of Portland,Oregon,United States. The four-story Italian Renaissance-style building houses the offices of the City Council,which consists of the mayor and four commissioners,and several other offices. City Hall is also home to the City Council chambers,located in the rotunda on the east side of the structure. Completed in 1895,the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 21,1974. City Hall has gone through several renovations,with the most recent overhaul gutting the interior to upgrade it to modern seismic and safety standards. The original was built for $600,000,while the 1996 to 1998 renovation cost $29 million.

Before being elected to Portland's City Council in 2008,Fritz was a neighborhood activist and seven-year member of the Portland Planning Commission. She was also the first candidate to win public financing under Portland's Clean Elections system in 2006,though she lost to incumbent Dan Saltzman in the first round of that year's election.
Stan Bunn is an American politician and lawyer in the U.S. state of Oregon. Born and raised in Yamhill County,he is part of a political family that includes his brother Jim Bunn who served in Congress. A self-described moderate Republican,Stan served in both houses of the Oregon Legislative Assembly,including a successful run for the Oregon House of Representatives while in law school in 1972. A Republican,he served part of a term in the Oregon House of Representatives while two brothers served in the Oregon State Senate. A former sheriff’s deputy in Yamhill County,he later served two terms as a county commissioner. He also was mayor of Amity and a member of their city council.
Gordon C. Faber was an American politician and businessman in the U.S. state of Oregon. A native of Pennsylvania,he grew up in Hillsboro,Oregon. He joined the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a small business owner before becoming a real estate agent and entering politics. He served on Hillsboro's budget committee and city council before serving two terms as mayor from 1993 to 2001. The Gordon Faber Recreation Complex in the city's northeast corner is named in his honor.
