The Milton Keynes Lightning are a semi-professional ice hockey team from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, playing in the NIHL National League, joining at the start of the 2019–20 season after previously icing in the English Premier Ice Hockey League from 2002–2017 and the EIHL, 2017–2019. The team was founded in 2002 after the Milton Keynes Kings were forced out and had to depart Milton Keynes for Solihull. The London Lions are a British professional basketball team based in Stratford, East London, England. The Lions compete in the British Basketball League, the top tier of British Basketball. The team was founded in 1977 as the Hemel Hempstead Lakers, and have been based in Hemel Hempstead, Watford and Milton Keynes. Since 2013, the team have played home games at the Copper Box Arena.

The 2007–08 season, the 21st since the establishment of the British Basketball League, commenced on 9 September 2007, when the Plymouth Raiders succumbed to the Guildford Heat in the inaugural Cup Winners' Cup competition. The regular season started two weeks later on 21 September with 12 teams including new additions Birmingham Panthers, Everton Tigers and London Capital the later of whom stepped up from EBL Division 1 during the summer. After just one season in the top-flight, London United were forced to drop out due to the loss of its financial backer just weeks before the start of the season.

Tom Hancock is an American basketball coach. Hancock was named Gulf South Conference Coach of the Year 1982 - 83. His 1982 - 83 and 1987 - 88 teams won the Gulf South Conference Championship. It was a pre-season tournament competed over two legs, one home and one away, between the winners of BBL Cup and BBL Trophy from the previous season. The Milton Keynes Lions College Lions, are a basketball academy team from Milton Keynes, England, with all players attending Milton Keynes College.The academy is coached, funded and run by a partnership between Milton Keynes College, and the 'London Lions' professional basketball team, who play in the British Basketball League.

Jelani Gardner is an American-French professional basketball player. He is 1.98 m in height. He plays mainly at the shooting guard position, but he can also play at the point guard and small forward positions. MK Lions Arena, also known as Prestige Homes Arena due to sponsorship reasons, was a basketball arena in Milton Keynes, England. It was the home venue for the Milton Keynes Lions of the British Basketball League from 2010 to 2012.

Clive Allen is a British basketball coach and former player, best known for playing for the Birmingham Bullets. After retirement, he worked on the coaching staff of BBL teams the Milton Keynes Lions and the Birmingham Panthers. He was also an England international, and is the father of women's basketball player Dominique Allen.
