Mike Polly (born November 10, 1983) is an American football coach and former player. He was most recently the run game coordinator and offensive line coach at the Middle Tennessee State University. Polly has also coached at Georgetown College and Murray State University.

Coaching career

Graduate Assistant

Following Polly's playing career, He joined the coaching staff at his alma mater, Georgetown for the spring of 2007. He assisted with the offensive line and strength and conditioning. In the fall, Polly joined the coaching staff at Middle Tennessee as a graduate assistant working with the offensive line. He held this position through the 2009 season. [1]

Murray State

From 2010 to 2012, Polly was a member of the Murray State football staff. He joined the staff coaching the tight ends and offensive tackles in 2010, and then for the 2011 and 2012 seasons, Polly was responsible for the whole offensive line, as well as being the special teams coordinator. In each season he was there, Murray State's offense ranked in the top 5 nationally. Polly's offensive line's success led the school's first 1,000 yard rusher. [2]

Middle Tennessee

In 2013, Polly returned to Middle Tennessee to coach the running backs. Prior to the 2014 season, Polly took over as the special teams coordinator, while still coaching the running backs. For the 2016 season, Polly moved back to his roots, coaching the tackles and tight ends, while continuing in his role as the special teams coordinator. [2] Polly has also served as the run game coordinator for the program. [3] After an offensive reshuffling in the offseason after the 2021 season, Polly took over the entire offensive line. [4] Following the 2023 season, head coach Rick Stockstill was let go, [5] and Polly was not retained by new head coach Derek Mason. [6]

Playing career

Polly was an all-conference player as a senior at Georgetown College as well as a co-captain. He helped lead his teams to four straight Mid-South Conference titles. Academically, Polly had great success as well. He was academic all-conference four times, and academic all-American three times. [1]

Personal life

Polly earned his degree in marketing from Georgetown in 2006, and a Master's in Sports Management from Middle Tennessee in 2008. [1]

Michael Sid Canales is an American college football coach and former player. He was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the University of North Texas, a position he held from 2010 to 2015. He became the interim head coach of the Mean Green twice, after the firing of Todd Dodge in 2010 and Dan McCarney in 2015. After a brief stint with Utah State in 2016, he was named the quarterbacks coach at the University of Tennessee in January 2017, reuniting with offensive coordinator Larry Scott, with whom he worked while at the University of South Florida. From 2018 until 2020, Canales was the offensive coordinator at the University of Texas at El Paso.

Brent Forrest Stockstill is an American football coach and former player who is currently the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator at Middle Tennessee State. A former quarterback at Middle Tennessee, he set multiple career program records including passing yards, touchdown passes, completed passes, and pass attempts. Stockstill had also obtained a reputation for being one of the toughest players in college football for his ability to play while being hindered by injuries.

Brent Dearmon is an American football coach who is currently the head coach at the University of North Alabama. He was previously the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Kansas, Middle Tennessee State University, and Florida Atlantic University. Dearmon was also the head coach at Bethel University in Tennessee, where he won a Mid-South Conference championship in his lone season there. He also played college football at Bethel, where he set career and single-season records in passing yards and touchdowns. Dearmon spent time playing professionally for indoor football teams before getting into coaching.
