A member of the Democratic Party,he served as Governor of Kentucky from 1971 to 1974,and as a member of the United States Senate for 24 years from 1974 to 1999. David Lewis Williams is an American attorney,Republican politician,and a judge from the U.S. state of Kentucky. When Republicans gained control of the state senate in 2000,Williams was chosen as President of the Senate,and held that post continuously until his resignation in November 2012.
