The United States Military Academy (USMA) is a United States service academy in West Point, New York. It was originally established as a fort during the American Revolutionary War, as it sits on strategic high ground overlooking the Hudson River 50 miles (80 km) north of New York City. It is the oldest of the five American service academies and educates cadets for commissioning into the United States Army.

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy (SJNMA) was founded in 1884 as St. John's Military Academy (SJMA) in Delafield, Wisconsin, by the Rev. Sidney T. Smythe as a private, college preparatory school. In 1995, Northwestern Military and Naval Academy (NMNA) in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, merged with St. John's Military Academy to become St. John's Northwestern Military Academy on the Delafield campus. In 2020, a Leadership Academy was added and the combined schools became St. John's Northwestern Academies. SJNA is a coed independent boarding and day school for boys and girls in grades 6–12. St. John's Northwestern Summer Academy offers Little Lancers Day Camp, Summer Academy Plus, and ESL courses.

Georgia Military College (GMC) is a public military junior college in Milledgeville, Georgia. Castle Heights Military Academy was a private military academy in Lebanon, Tennessee, United States. It opened in 1902 and became a military school in 1918. The school closed in 1986. Its former campus was placed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Castle Heights Academy Historic District in 1996.
Robin Olds was an American fighter pilot and general officer in the United States Air Force (USAF). He was a "triple ace", with a combined total of 17 victories in World War II and the Vietnam War. He retired in 1973 as a brigadier general, after 30 years of service.

In the United States Army, the insignia reserved for generals is one or more stars. Of the 164 graduates that year, 59 (36%) attained the rank of general, more than any other class in the history of the academy, hence the expression.
Herman John Koehler was an American football coach, athletics administrator, and United States Army officer. He served as the head football coach at the United States Military Academy from 1897 to 1900, compiling a record of 19–11–3.
Francis Webster Honeycutt was an American fencer and military officer. He won a bronze medal in the team foil event at the 1920 Summer Olympics. He rose to the rank of brigadier general in 1940 and assumed command of 9th Infantry Division, before he was killed during an aircraft accident two weeks later.

John P. Daley was a career officer in the United States Army. The son and grandson of prominent army officers, he served from 1931 until his death and attained the rank of lieutenant general. A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, his senior assignments included commanding general of the U.S. Army Combat Developments Command, and his awards included the Army Distinguished Service Medal and three awards of the Legion of Merit.
