Workshop

Millennials was due to hold its first "work in progress" performances in February 2021 as part of MTFestUK. [2] It was initially scheduled to play to an in-person audience, but was then planned to move online with the rest of the festival due to the coronavirus pandemic. [3] The performances were postponed to May 2021, before embarking on a digital tour, with in person performances taking place at the Turbine Theatre. [4] Casting for the work in progress performances featured Luke Bayer, Allie Daniel, Beth Hinton-Lever, Nathan Lorainey-Dineen, Tim Mahendran, Grace Mouat and Jodie Steele. [5]

Off-West End

An Off-West End run was announced to begin at The Other Palace Studio on 8 July 2022, in a limited run to 7 August, with direction by Hannah Benson. [6] The cast featured Luke Bayer, Hiba Elchikhe, Luke Latchman, Hannah Lowther, Rob Madge, and Georgina Onuorah, with Latchman replacing the previously announced Ivano Turco. [7] [8]

The production extended to 4 September 2022 with a new cast featuring Georgina Castle, Lucca Chadwick-Patel, Jarnéia Richard-Noel, Cleve September, Rhys Taylor and Becca Wickes. [9] [1]

The production was subsequently nominated for ‘Best Off-West End Production’ at the WhatsOnStage awards.

After a 2015 regional theatre production, the musical premiered off-Broadway in 2018. A Broadway production began previews on February 13, 2019, and officially opened on March 10, 2019. The Broadway production closed on August 11, 2019. An Off West End production opened on February 18, 2020, and temporarily closed on March 16, 2020, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic with the production being cancelled on June 3, 2020. In 2021, it was announced that the production, featuring the original London cast, would resume performances on the West End at the Shaftesbury Theatre for a 10-week run starting June 30. A Chicago production was set to open in July 2020.
