The Mindyarra Maintenance Centre is an under construction railway depot to be built in Dubbo as part of the NSW TrainLink Regional Train Project.

History

In August 2017, as part of the NSW TrainLink Regional Train Project, Transport for NSW announced a new maintenance facility would be built in Dubbo adjacent to the Main Western railway line, 700 metres to the east of Dubbo railway station. [1] [2] [3] In November 2020, CPB Contractors commenced construction work. [4] [5]

Mindyarra is a Wiradjuri word that means fix or repair. It will be the first Transport for NSW facility to use an Aboriginal name. [6]

UGL Rail is an Australian rail company specialising in building, maintaining and refurbishing diesel locomotives, diesel and electric multiple units and freight wagons. It is a subsidiary of UGL Limited and is based in Melbourne, with a staff of 1,200 across Australia and Asia. It operates factories in Broadmeadow, Maintrain Auburn, Spotswood and Bassendean. New South Wales XPT

The New South Wales XPT is a class of diesel-powered passenger trains built by Comeng and ABB Transportation. Based on the British Rail designed Intercity 125 High Speed Train, each XPT set is made up of two XP locomotives in a push-pull formation coupled to between four and seven carriages. The first sets entered service under the State Rail Authority in 1982 and now operate under NSW TrainLink, running on long-distance regional and interstate North Coast, Main Western and Main Southern lines throughout New South Wales and interstate into Victoria and Queensland.

The Sydney Trains A & B sets, also referred to as the Waratah trains, are classes of electric multiple units that currently operate on the Sydney Trains network. The Waratahs are based on the M sets, and were manufactured by a joint consortium between CRRC Changchun and Downer Rail, with initial construction taking place overseas in Changchun before final assembly at Downer Rail's Cardiff Locomotive Workshops. The sets were named after the Waratah flower, which is the state's floral emblem.

Newcastle Light Rail

The Newcastle Light Rail is a light rail system in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, running from Newcastle Interchange through the central business district to Pacific Park. Major construction commenced in September 2017 and the line was opened on 17 February 2019. It is operated by Newcastle Transport for Transport for NSW.

NSW TrainLink D set

The NSW TrainLink D sets, also referred to as the Mariyung trains, are a class of electric multiple units being built to replace NSW TrainLink's Intercity electric multiple unit fleet, replacing the entire V set fleet and allowing the H sets to be reallocated to Sydney suburban services. The trains will operate on services from Sydney to Newcastle, Lithgow and Kiama. The first trains were delivered in December 2019, and are scheduled to enter service in 2022.

Dubbo railway station

Dubbo railway station is a heritage-listed railway station and bus interchange located on the Main Western line in Dubbo in the Dubbo Regional Council local government area of New South Wales, Australia. The station serves the city of Dubbo and was opened on 1 February 1881. The station is also known as Dubbo Railway Station and yard group. The property was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. The station and associated yards were designed by the office of the Engineer-in-Chief of the NSW Government Railways, under the direction of John Whitton.

Parramatta Light Rail Light rail line under construction in Sydney

The Parramatta Light Rail is a project for a twelve-kilometre (seven-mile) light rail line in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, which is currently under construction. The line will run from Westmead to Carlingford via the Western Sydney centre of Parramatta. The initial announcement of the project also included an eastern branch from Camellia to Strathfield. Plans to construct this branch were deferred in February 2017, and in October the original plans were replaced with a redesigned and truncated route to Sydney Olympic Park. The project will add to light rail in Sydney but the new line will be completely separated from the existing lines. It is being managed by Transport for NSW.

Sydney Metro West is a rapid transit project under construction in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, involving the construction of a rail line linking the Sydney City Centre (CBD) with Westmead in the outer western suburbs of Greater Sydney. The metro line will run parallel to the existing Main Suburban and Main Western railway lines, with the main aims being the doubling of rail capacity between the City Centre and Greater Western Sydney and the relief of overcrowding on the Western Line. The line will form part of the Sydney Metro network.

NSW TrainLink Regional Train Project

The NSW TrainLink Regional Train Project is an initiative of Transport for NSW to procure new bi-mode CAF Civity trains to replace NSW TrainLink's Endeavour, Xplorer and XPT fleets.

The Kangy Angy Maintenance Centre is a railway depot at Kangy Angy on the Central Coast, New South Wales to maintain the NSW TrainLink D sets. The depot was officially opened on 24 February 2021, and is located off Enterprise Drive.

Bourke railway station

Bourke railway station is a heritage-listed disused railway station in Bourke, in the Far West region of New South Wales. The station opened in 1885 as the terminus of the Main Western line. Passenger trains to Bourke ceased in 1975 when the rail service beyond Dubbo was replaced by road coaches. NSW TrainLink continues to serve the station by coach. The property belongs to the Country Regional Network (CRN), which is owned by Transport for NSW and operated by John Holland Rail.
