The Minister of Health and Child Care in Zimbabwe is retired general Constantino Guveya Dominic Chiwenga. He was appointed [1] by the president of Zimbabwe on 5 August 2020, making him the 8th minister of Health of Zimbabwe since its liberation in 1980.

Chiwenga succeeded Dr Obadiah Moyo who left office due to corruption charges of illegally awarding a multi-million-dollar contract for medical equipment. [2] [3]

7th Parliament of Zimbabwe

The 7th Parliament of Zimbabwe was a meeting of the Zimbabwean Parliament, composed of the Senate and the House of Assembly. It met in Harare over five sessions from 25 August 2008 to 27 June 2013. The Cabinet of Zimbabwe is the executive body that forms the government of Zimbabwe together with the President of Zimbabwe. The Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) is the government ministry responsible for health in Zimbabwe. Rtd Constantino Generari Bae Chiwenga was appointed to head the Ministry in September 2018. On the 7th of July 2020, the President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa dismissed Moyo from the office of Cabinet Minister, removing him for "conduct inappropriate for a Government Minister". This was after Moyo had been arrested and charged with three counts of criminal abuse of duty as a public officer, for his alleged participation in a scam that involves tens of millions of dollars. The Permanent Secretary was Dr. Agnes Mahomva, who in 2018 took over from Major General Dr Gerald Gwinji. Dr. Mahomva is now the Chief Coordinator for the national Covid-19 response in the Office of the President and Cabinet.

Walter Mzembi Member of the Cabinet of Zimbabwe

Walter Mzembi is a Zimbabwean politician. He previously served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry. He was the Member of the House of Assembly for Masvingo South (ZANU-PF). It was announced on November 27, 2017 that Simbarashe Mumbengegwi was now the acting Foreign Minister of Zimbabwe.

Constantino Guveya Dominic Nyikadzino Chiwenga is a Zimbabwean politician and former army general currently serving, since 2017, as the First Vice-President of Zimbabwe under President Emmerson Mnangagwa. In addition since 2017, he has been the Vice President and Second Secretary of the ruling Zimbabwean African National Union–Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) jointly serving with Kembo Mohadi. In 2017, he, among others, managed to successfully topple Zimbabwe's President of 37 years Robert Mugabe in a bloodless coup.

<i>The Chronicle</i> (Zimbabwe)

The Chronicle is a popular daily newspaper in Zimbabwe. It is published in Bulawayo and mostly reports on news in the Matebeleland region in the southern part of the country. It is state-owned and therefore usually only publishes news that supports the government and its policies. It also covers stories on national and international news, as well as entertainment, sport, business, travel, job offers and real estate. It was established in 1894 and it was the largest newspaper in the country following The Herald.

2017 Zimbabwean coup détat The Overthrow of the Mugabe Regime in Zimbabwe

On the evening of 14 November 2017, elements of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) gathered around Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, and seized control of the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation and key areas of the city. The next day, the ZDF issued a statement saying that it was not a coup d'état and that President Robert Mugabe was safe, although the situation would return to normal only after the ZDF had dealt with the "criminals" around Mugabe responsible for the socio-economic problems of Zimbabwe. Jacob Zuma, then-President of South Africa, phoned Mugabe and was told that Mugabe was under house arrest but otherwise "fine".

Sibusiso Busi Moyo is a Zimbabwean politician and retired army major general serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in the Cabinet of Zimbabwe since November 2017.

2018 Bulawayo bombing

On 23 June 2018, a grenade exploded at White City Stadium in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The blast occurred at a ZANU–PF campaign rally, just after President Emmerson Mnangagwa had finished giving a speech. It was described as an assassination attempt against Mnangagwa, who was unharmed. The bombing resulted in at least 49 injured, including Vice-Presidents Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi, and other high-ranking government officials. Two security agents later died of their injuries.

July Moyo is a Zimbabwean parliamentarian and member of Zanu-PF. He has been a member of cabinet in both Robert Mugabe and Emmerson Mnangagwa governments. Moyo is currently the Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing.

Prisca Mupfumira Zimbabwean politician and minister who was arrested for corruption

Prisca Mupfumira, or Priscah Mupfumira, was a Zimbabwean politician and government minister under President Robert Mugabe. When the President was replaced by Emmerson Mnangagwa, she was the first serving ZANU–PF minister to be arrested for corruption.

Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu is a Zimbabwean parliamentarian and minister. He is affiliated with Zanu-PF and represents the constituency of Bulima East. He was appointed the Minister of Minister of Industry, Commerce and Enterprise Development after the 2018 election. In November 2019, he was appointed Zimbabwe's Minister of Environment, Climate Change, Tourism and International Trade, replacing Prisca Mupfumira.

Obadiah Moyo is a Zimbabwean politician and former hospital administrator. In 2018, he was appointed the country's Minister of Health and Child Care. On the 19th of June 2020, he was arrested and charged with three counts of criminal abuse of duty as a public officer, for his alleged participation in a scam that involves tens of millions of dollars. After spending the night in police cells, he posted $50 000.00 bail, and is currently awaiting the start of his criminal trial. On the 7th of July 2020, the President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa dismissed Moyo from the office of Cabinet Minister, removing him for "conduct inappropriate for a Government Minister".
