Sri Lankabhimanya Dingiri Banda Wijetunga was the fourth President of Sri Lanka from 1 May 1993 to 12 November 1994, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka from 3 March 1989 to 7 May 1993 and the Governor of North Western province, Sri Lanka from 1988 to 1989. He was awarded Sri Lanka's most highest award to a civilian Sri Lankabhimanya in 1993 by President Ranasinghe Premadasa.
Lalith William Samarasekera Athulathmudali, PC, known as Lalith Athulathmudali, was a Sri Lankan statesman. He was a prominent member of the United National Party, who served as Minister of Trade and Shipping; Minister National Security and Deputy Minister of Defence; Minister of Agriculture, Food and Cooperatives and finally Minister of Education. Following a failed impeachment of President Ranasinghe Premadasa, he was removed from the UNP and formed his own party, the Democratic United National Front. He was assassinated under mysterious circumstances in 1993.

Navaratne Rajakaruna Wasala Mudiyanselage Tikiri Bandara Ilangaratne, popularly as T. B. Ilangaratne, was a Sri Lankan politician, author, dramatist, and theater actor. He was a Member of Parliament for Kandy, Galaha, Hewaheta and Kolonnawa in Colombo district. He served as the Sri Lankan Cabinet Minister of Labour, Housing, Social Services, Finance, Commerce, Food, Trade and Shipping and in other government positions in a career spanning three decades. He established the Employees' Provident Fund, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation and the People's Bank while in office. As a writer, Ilangaratne is best known for writing Amba Yaluwo (1957), a popular children's novel.

Punchi Banda Gunathilleke Kalugalla was a Sri Lankan politician, Cabinet Minister and diplomat. He contested the 1956 election as a Sri Lanka Freedom Party candidate for Kegalle electorate, won and was appointed as a Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health by S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike. In June 1959 he was appointed as Minister of Cultural Affairs & Social Services, and held that portfolio under W. Dahanayake. Having held his seat in the 1960 parliamentary elections, he was appointed Minister of Transport & Works by Sirimavo Bandaranaike. In November 1962 he was appointed as Minister of Finance, then Minister of Education & Cultural Affairs in Bandaranaike's May 1963 cabinet reshuffle. Kalugalla held his seat through elections in 1965 and 1970, being appointed Minister of Shipping & Tourism, with Aviation being added to his portfolio following the Lanka Sama Samaja Party's departure from the Cabinet in 1975. The 1977 elections saw him lose the Kegalle seat, but won it back in 1994 on the Democratic United National Front ticket, being appointed Deputy Minister of Justice & Cultural Affairs by Chandrika Kumaratunge.
Major Deshamanya Walter Geoffrey Montague "Monti" Jayawickrama was a Sri Lankan politician. He served as the Minister of Transport and Public Works (1952-1956) and the Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs and Plantation Industries (1977-1987), having been elected from Weligama in Matara to the Sri Lankan Parliament. He was the Second Governor of the North Western Province of Sri Lanka.
Tilak Janaka Marapana PC is a Sri Lankan lawyer. He is the current Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Assignments. He is a Member of Parliament appointed from the national list and had served as Minister of Law and Order, Prison Reforms from September 2015 to November 2015 and Minister of Defence (2001–2003) and Minister of Transport, Highways and Aviation (2002–2004). As Minister of Defence, he was the only non Presidential or Prime Ministerial holder of the portfolio. A lawyer by profession and a President's Counsel, he had served as a government prosecutor in the Attorney General's Department for twenty six years, serving as Solicitor General and Attorney General.
The Ministry of Highways, Ports and Shipping was a Sri Lankan government ministry responsible for the governance, implementation, creation and development of Ports including Colombo, Galle and Trincomalee ports, Highways including Southern expressway, Colombo Outer Circular expressway, Katunayake expressway and their transport services. It was reorganized as two separate ministries, the Ministry of Ports and Shipping and Ministry of Higher Education and Highways following the formation of the Sirisena cabinet in January 2015.
