Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee is a public technical and research university located in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India, headed by Director Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi. It was formerly known as University of Roorkee (1949-2001) and Thomason College of Civil Engineering (1847-1949). The Lagos–Kano Standard Gauge Railway is a 1,343 kilometres -long standard gauge railway under construction in Nigeria. Once complete, the railway will connect the Atlantic Ocean port city of Lagos to Kano, near the border with Niger, passing through the national capital of Abuja. The railway replaces the Cape gauge Western Line built by the British in 1896–1927, which has a lower design capacity and is in a deteriorated condition.

In 2019 the governor of the state Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai cut down the rate of ministries from 19 to 14 ministries. The governor signed an executive order to create another three new ministries apart from the old ones.
