The Ministry of Industry, Agriculture and Cooperatives is a governmental body of Koshi Province which responsible for the formulation, implementation and regulation of land management, laws and standards by adopting policies related to agriculture and land reform. [2]

Overview

According to the Constitution of Nepal issued in the 2015, the basic structure of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal is arranged in a three-tier government structure. Koshi province is one of the seven provinces in Nepal.

After Nepal was transformed into a federal structure and the system of union, state and local government was completed in the year 2017, the three-level elections were completed and the provincial government was formed 15 February 2018. The Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives was established on same year. [3] On 6 February 2022, the portfolio of the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives has been split into two ministries, the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation. [4] [5] Recently, according to the decision of the provincial government (council of ministers) on 20 January 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture has been modified and the name of the department has been changed to the Ministry of Industry, Agriculture and Cooperatives. The Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy is the governmental body of Koshi Province, Nepal, responsible for managing drinking water, irrigation, electricity, water-borne disasters at the Provincial level.

The Ministry of Social Development is a governmental body of Koshi Province responsible for the welfare of the society and does all social development work. Its purpose is to take care of the development work related to the social development of the society.

The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development is the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. One of the senior-most officers in the Federal Cabinet, the minister responsible for growth and development of agriculture and livestock sector is an ex-officio member of Nepal Agricultural Research Council, Nepal Veterinary Council and National Tea and Coffee Development Board. The Minister is assisted by the Minister of State for Agriculture and Livestock Development and the junior Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development.

Lila Ballabh Adhikari is a Nepalese politician, belonging to the Communist Party of Nepal. He has served as the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law in Koshi Province. Adhikari has been serving as a member of the Koshi Provincial Assembly from Morang 2 (B) since 2017. He had previously served as the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law in Bhim Acharya's cabinet from 15 September 2021 to 1 November 2021.

Indira Thapa is a Nepalese politician and member of the Nepali Congress Party. Thapa is currently serving as the Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Planning of Koshi Province since 9 February 2024. She is currently serving as a member of the 2nd Koshi Provincial Assembly. In the 2022 Nepalese provincial election she was elected as a proportional representative from the Khas people category.

The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development is a governmental body of Koshi Province, Nepal mainly responsible for the construction and development of basic physical infrastructure including roads, bridges, buildings and urban development.

Narayan Bahadur Burja Magar is a Nepalese politician, belonging to the CPN Party. Magar is currently serving as the Minister for Water Supply Irrigation and Energy of Koshi Province since 9 February 2024.

Sunita Kumari Gurung is a Nepalese politician and member of the Nepali Congress Party. Gurung is currently serving as the Minister of State for Internal Affairs and Law of Koshi Province since 9 February 2024. She is currently serving as a member of the 2nd Koshi Provincial Assembly. The Ministry of Tourism, Forests and Environment is a governmental body of Koshi Province in charge of managing natural resources, promoting tourism, climate change, environment and conserving biodiversity. The Ministry of Internal Affairs And Law is the governmental body of Koshi Province responsible for peace and security, provincial investigation bureau, disaster management, provincial assembly affairs, communication and formulation of provincial level laws.

The Minister for Social Development is the head of the Ministry of Social Development of the Government of Koshi Province. One of the senior-most officers in the Provincial Cabinet, the minister is responsible for the management and promotion of labor and employment and the province's education, youth sports, women, children, senior citizens, disabilities and social security, program implementation, and regulating and managing non-plans.

Jivan Acharya is a Nepalese politician and member of the CPN party. He is also serving as a member of the Koshi Provincial Assembly. In the 2022 Nepalese provincial election, he won the election from Morang 6 (A) constituency.

Buddhi Kumar Rajbhandari is a Nepalese politician and member of the CPN party. He serving as the Minister for Water Supply, Irrigation and Energy in the Government of Koshi Province. Rajbhandari is a member of the Koshi Provincial Assembly having been elected from Solukhumbu 1 (B).
