Major League Volleyball (MLV) was a women's professional volleyball league in the United States. It was established in 1987 and disbanded during its third season on March 20, 1989.

France have been competing in the World League ever since the inaugural edition in 1990 and continuously since 1999. Mary Joan "Mary Jo" Peppler is an American former volleyball player and coach. Peppler was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 1990. She also played professional basketball with the New Jersey Gems of the Women's Professional Basketball League for one season.
The 2011 USL Premier Development League season was the 17th season of the PDL. The regular season began on April 29, 2011, when the Los Angeles Blues 23 played Fresno Fuego, and ended on July 24. The playoffs began on Tuesday, July 26 and concluded with the PDL Championship Game on August 6. As in previous years, the PDL Championship Game was broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel in the United States, with commentary by Steve Bell and Keith Tabatznik.
Leslie Ann Woodard is a former professional women's volleyball player. She played college volleyball from 1982 to 1986, and played on the Major League Volleyball team the Chicago Breeze from 1987 to 1989. She also provided color commentary for ESPN during 1989.

It appears that Minnesota--which led the league attendance last season with 22,000--and the San Jose Golddiggers will break even this season, an impressive accomplishment for teams in just their third year of existence.
