Mir Humayun Aziz Kurd is a Pakistani politician who was a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013.

National Assembly of Pakistan Legislative Assembly in Pakistan

The National Assembly is the lower house of the bicameral Majlis-e-Shura, which also comprises the Senate of Pakistan. The National Assembly and the Senate both convene at Parliament House in Islamabad. The National Assembly is a democratically elected body consisting of a total of 336 members, before 25th amendment they used to be 342' who are referred to as Members of the National Assembly (MNAs), of which 272 are directly elected members and 70 reserved seats for women and religious minorities. A political party must secure 137 seats to obtain and preserve a majority.

Political career

He was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan from Constituency NA-267 (Bolan-cum-Jhal Magsi) as an independent candidate in 2008 Pakistani general election. [1] [2] He received 61,249 votes and defeated Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League (Q) (PML-Q). [3]

Constituency NA-267 (Kachhi) was a constituency for the National Assembly of Pakistan.

2008 Pakistani general election election

General elections were held in Pakistan on 18 February 2008, after being postponed from 8 January 2008. The original date was intended to elect members of the National Assembly, the lower house of the Parliament of Pakistan.

Pakistan Muslim League (Q)

The Pakistan Muslim League Urdu: پاکستان مسلم لیگ (ق)‎; Acronyms: PML(Q), PML-Q, PMLQ) is a centre-nationalist political party in Pakistan. As of the 2018 Parliamentary election, it has a representation of 5 seats. It previously served as an ally of former Prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf's then government, and led a joint election campaign in 2013 alongside Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Punjab and Balochistan provinces against its rival Pakistan Muslim League (N), a fiscal conservative and centre-right force.

In April 2008, he was inducted into the federal cabinet of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani and was made Federal Minister for population welfare. [4] In November 2008, his ministerial portfolio was changed and he was appointed as Federal Minister for livestock and dairy development [5] where he served until February 2011. [6]

Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, also spelled Gilani, is a Pakistani politician who served as 18th Prime Minister of Pakistan from 25 March 2008 until his retroactive disqualification and ouster by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 26 April 2012. He currently serves as the vice-chairman of the central executive committee of the Pakistan Peoples Party.
