Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin (born 12 August 1982) [1] is a Bangladeshi barrister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) politician. He is a member of the national executive committee and foreign relations committee of the party. [2] [3]
Uddin's father is Mir Mohammad Nasiruddin, [1] a BNP politician.
Uddin is a member of the Dhaka Bar Association. [1] He has acted as a lawyer for former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. [4]
Uddin was nominated by the BNP to contest the 11th Jatiya Sangsad election representing the Chittagong-5 constituency to be held on 30 December 2018. But on 3 December, the returning officers rejected his nomination paper for failing to prove that legal cases against him were stayeds. [5]
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a major political party in Bangladesh. Founded on 1 September 1978 by the late Bangladeshi president Ziaur Rahman, with a view of uniting people with a nationalist ideology, BNP later came out as one of the two most dominant parties in Bangladesh, along with its archrival Awami League. Initially being a big tent centrist party, it moved towards more right-wing politics later.

M Ilias Ali was a Bangladeshi politician and member of the Jatiya Sangsad (2001–2006) representing the Sylhet-2 constituency. He served as the organising secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. He, along with his personal car driver, Ansar Ali, went missing on 18 April 2012. Later that day, local police recovered his abandoned car near his residence in Banani neighborhood and found Ansar's cellphone inside. They have not been seen since. On the tenth anniversary of his disappearance, Netra News, an independent news platform in Sweden, reported on 21 April 2022, that Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), an elite Bangladeshi police unit, had carried out the disappearance. The platform cited leaked confidential documents and internal investigations documents from RAB to reach the conclusion.
Lutfuzzaman Babar is a Bangladeshi politician who served as the Bangladeshi State Minister of Home Affairs in the Khaleda Zia Cabinet, as a member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. He is currently in prison for the death penalties in two cases – in January 2014 on charges of 2004 arms smuggling in Chittagong and in October 2018 for killing through criminal conspiracy at the 2004 Dhaka grenade attack.
Mohammad Mosaddak Ali, also known as Phalu, is a Bangladeshi entrepreneur and a politician who was a former parliamentarian from Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). He served as the political secretary to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Begum Khaleda Zia between 2001 and 2004. He was responsible for building special relations and partnership for development between the government and the private sector that is interested in investing in new and highly potential industrial sectors, and introducing new products and services to local industries, at a time when Bangladesh's economic growth accelerated. In 2003, Ali launched Bangladesh's first automation-based private satellite television station NTV. He also founded another satellite channel RTV and Bengali daily newspaper Amar Desh. He is the founding President of Association of Television Channel Owners (ATCO).
Mahmudur Rahman Manna is a Bangladeshi politician and a media personality. He was former Organizing Secretary of the ruling party Bangladesh Awami League. The Wall Street Journal described him as a "fierce critic of the government". He was arrested after a leaked conversion where he was asked if he would agree to talk to an army officer who was not named.
Nazmul Huda was a Bangladeshi barrister and politician. He served as the minister of information (1991–1996) and the minister of communications (2001–2006) of the government of Bangladesh. He was a four-term Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Dhaka-1 constituency. He was a member of Bangladesh Nationalist Party since its inception until 2012 when he left the party as its vice chairman.
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury is a standing committee member of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, and former Minister of Commerce. He hails from a political family in Chittagong and headed the city's BNP unit momentarily to organize the party.
Abdullah Al Noman is a Bangladeshi politician who is a vice-chairman of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. He is a 3-term Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Chittagong-9 constituency. He served as a minister of fisheries and food at the Second Khaleda Cabinet.
Salahuddin Ahmed is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician who served as the state minister of communication and a member of parliament from Cox's Bazar-1 constituency during 1996–2006. He was the spokesperson of the party. In 2015, he allegedly enforced disappeared in Dhaka and reappeared two months later in Shillong, India under Indian police custody. In 2018, he was acquitted by the Indian court. Later on February 28, 2023, he was also acquitted by the appellate court.
Khairul Kabir Khokon is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and a former member of parliament for Narsingdi-1, who currently serves as the party's assistant secretary. He had served as the president of Narsingdi District unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
