Meredith Susanna Cara Kercher was a British student on exchange from the University of Leeds who was murdered at the age of 21 in Perugia, Italy. Kercher was found dead on the floor of her bedroom. By the time the bloodstained fingerprints at the scene were identified as belonging to Rudy Guede, an Ivorian migrant, police had charged Kercher's American roommate, Amanda Knox, and Knox's Italian boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito. The subsequent prosecutions of Knox and Sollecito received international publicity, with forensic experts and jurists taking a critical view of the evidence supporting the initial guilty verdicts.

The Italy women's national rugby union sevens team is a Rugby sevens national women's side that represents Italy. They have only qualified once to the Rugby World Cup Sevens. At the 2021 Rugby Europe Women's Sevens Championship Series held in Lisbon and Moscow, Spain finished third overall.

Kalyn Keller is an American former competition swimmer who represented the United States at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. She competed in the women's 800-meter freestyle, and finished fourth with a time of 8:26.97 in the event final. In the women's 400-meter freestyle, she swam in the preliminary heats and recorded the tenth-best overall time of 4:09.83.

She kicked the match-winning penalty in the win against Wales in the 2017 Women's Six Nations Championship to beat the opposing team for the first time in seven years. The win was described a "historic rugby victory" by the Edinburgh Evening News. She repeated the feat under even more pressurised circumstances in 2021 when her 82nd minute conversion of a Chloe Rollie try put Scotland through to the qualification final for the Rugby World Cup at the expense of their opponents Ireland.
