Misty Lown is an American dance teacher, studio owner and author of One Small Yes. [1] She is the founder of Misty's Dance Unlimited and the More Than Just Great Dancing dance studio affiliate program. [2] [3]
Lown founded Misty's Dance Unlimited in 1998 in Onalaska, Wisconsin, [4] teaching ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and beginner's classes. The studio integrates classes on community building and service into the dance curriculum. [5] Lown is also the owner of More Than Just Great Dancing, an international affiliation program that establishes standards for dance programs and management. [6] [7] The program included 25 dance studios as of 2013. [8] [9] That year Lown and Misty's Dance Unlimited won Evoloshen's "Most Amazing Companies" award. [9] She has been recognized as "Teacher of the Year" by Eclipse, "Outstanding Businesswoman of the Year" by the YWCA and awarded the "Pope John XXIII Award for Distinguished Service" by Viterbo University and the "Philanthropy Award" from the Red Cross. Before working at Wisconsin-La Crosse, Lee was an assistant coach with the Western Illinois Leathernecks women's basketball from 1987 to 1988 and a scout for the Iowa Hawkeyes women's basketball team from 1988 to 1995. Lee was promoted to head coach for Iowa in 1995 and was the 1996 Associated Press College Women's Basketball Coach of the Year. Upon her departure from Iowa in 2000, Lee was an assistant coach on the Virginia Tech Hokies women's basketball team from 2000 until she ended her coaching career in 2004.
"Portland Oregon" is a song written and recorded by American country singer-songwriter Loretta Lynn. In 2004, she recorded the song as a duet with American rock musician Jack White. Shortly before its recording, White discovered the song on an old paper filed away in Lynn's attic. The song was among several old compositions Lynn recorded for her 2004 studio album, Van Lear Rose. "Portland Oregon" was among the singles released from the album. Upon its release, the single received positive reception from writers and critics.
