Mithun is a multidisciplinary design firm headquartered in Seattle with offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles. The company provides integrated design services including architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, urban design and planning.

History

The firm was founded in 1949 by Omer Mithun, a professor of architecture at the University of Washington [1] as a private practice in Bellevue, Washington. Mithun incorporated in 1953, and became Mithun Partners in 1988. The practice moved into the historic Times Square Building in 1990, after the firm outgrew the space they moved again in 2000, after renovating their present-day headquarters on Pier 56. Mithun is now led by a board of directors, presided by Bert Gregory, FAIA, who also serves as CEO. [2]

Bassetti Architects American architectural firm

Bassetti Architects is an architectural firm based in Seattle, Washington with a second office in Portland, Oregon. Founded in 1947, the firm has newly designed or substantially renovated several well-known Seattle landmarks and many schools in the greater Seattle-Tacoma area. David Coleman, FAIA, is an American architect based in Seattle, WA. David was born in New York and studied fine arts and environmental design at Pratt Institute before taking up architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design. He completed his studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture. He founded David Coleman Architecture in 1986. In 2011 David was elected to the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows.

The Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence (RBA) was established in 1986 by Cambridge, Massachusetts architect Simeon Bruner. The award is named after Simeon Bruner's late father, Rudy Bruner, founder of the Bruner Foundation. According to the Bruner Foundation, the RBA was created to increase understanding of the role of architecture in the urban environment and promote discussion of what constitutes urban excellence. The award seeks to identify and honor places, rather than people, that address economic and social concerns along with urban design.

Gwynne Pugh is an American architect, born in Wales, who until 2010 was a partner of Pugh + Scarpa. He is known for his use of environmentally sound architecture and alternative energy in his designs. In 2010, he was inducted into the AIA College of Fellows. Currently, he is principal of Gwynne Pugh Urban Studio, a firm he founded in 2010.

Carol Ross Barney American architect (1949 - )

Carol Ross Barney is an American architect and the founder and Design Principal of Ross Barney Architects. She became the first woman to design a federal building when commissioned as architect for the Oklahoma City Federal Building, which replaced the bombed Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. Ross Barney's other projects include the JRC Synagogue, James I Swenson Civil Engineering Building, the CTA Morgan Street Station, and the Chicago Riverwalk.

Martin Felsen American architect

Martin Felsen is an American architect and Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA). He directs UrbanLab, a Chicago-based architecture and urban design firm. Felsen's projects range in scale from houses such as the Hennepin, Illinois Residence, mixed-use residential and commercial buildings such as Upton's Naturals Headquarters, public open spaces such as the Smart Museum of Art Courtyard at the University of Chicago, and large scale, urban design projects such as Growing Water in Chicago and a masterplan for the Yangming Lake region of Changde, China. Felsen was awarded the 2009 Latrobe Prize by the American Institute of Architects, College of Fellows.
