Moa Mua Maliepo (born 12 May 1996) is a New Zealand-born Romanian rugby union football player. He plays as a centre positions for professional SuperLiga club Timișoara Saracens.

Club career

Before joining Timișoara Saracens, Moa Mua Maliepo played for Parramatta Two Blues and most recently for CSM București, from where he transferred to Saracens following the dissolution of his former club. [1]

International career

Maliepo also plays for Romania's national team, the Oaks, making his international debut during the Week 3 of 2020 Rugby Europe Championship in a test match against the Los Leones . [2] [3]

Starting with this edition the number of participating teams is increased to eight, with addition of the 2017–18 champions and runners-up of the second tier championship DNS - Divizia Nationala de Seniori. The eventual champions of the SuperLiga which are CSM Știința Baia Mare have the right to participate in the European Rugby Continental Shield and no team will relegate to the Divizia Națională de Seniori, Romania's 2nd level rugby union competition as CS Năvodari didn't apply to play in the SuperLiga next season.

The 2019–20 SuperLiga is the 106th season of premier club rugby in Romania. Starting with this edition, the number of participating teams has decreased from eight teams to seven, due to CSM București dissolving before the start of the new season. At the end of April, Gloria Buzău announced that their senior team have dissolved due to financial issues concerning the COVID-19 pandemic leaving only 6 teams remaining in the SuperLiga for the remainder of the season. During August 2020, it was announced that Timișoara Saracens RCM UVT will restart in the SuperLiga under the new name of SCM Timișoara Rugby.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Cupa României (rugby union)</span> Romanian rugby union cup competition

The Cupa României is a rugby union cup competition for Romanian teams which has been held annually since 1914 except for a couple of years where the cup was not held either because of World War II or other unknown reasons. It is the country's main cup competition, although not being open to all clubs affiliated with the Federaţia Română de Rugby (FRR) like in previous editions and only being open to the teams competing in the CEC Bank SuperLiga. In late March, it was announced that Tomitanii Constanța would not participate in the Cupa României for the 2021 season due to financial reasons.

The 2019 Cupa României was the 115th season of Romania's national rugby union cup competition, reserved for club teams participating in the CEC Bank SuperLiga. Starting with this edition the number of participating teams has decreased to seven, due to CSM București dissolving before the start of the new season meaning all of CSM's matches are to be cancelled.
