Botswana, officially the Republic of Botswana, is a landlocked country in Southern Africa. Botswana is topographically flat, with approximately 70 per cent of its territory being the Kalahari Desert. It is bordered by South Africa to the south and southeast, Namibia to the west and north, Zambia to the north and Zimbabwe to the northeast. Being a country of slightly over 2.4 million people and roughly the size of France, Botswana is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world. It is essentially the nation-state of the Tswana people, who constitute 70 per cent of the population.

Debbie Jessika Mucarsel-Powell is an American politician and academic administrator who served as a U.S. representative for Florida's 26th congressional district from 2019 to 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, her district covered the southern part of Miami-Dade County, including Homestead, as well as the Florida Keys. Mucarsel-Powell was the first Ecuadorian American and first South American-born immigrant to serve as a member of the U.S. Congress. She was defeated in her 2020 re-election bid by Miami-Dade County mayor Carlos Giménez.
Mariannette Jane Miller-Meeks is an American physician and Republican Party politician serving as a U.S. representative since 2021, representing Iowa's 1st congressional district. Her district, numbered as the 2nd district in her first term, includes most of Iowa's southeastern quadrant, including Davenport, Bettendorf, Burlington, and Iowa City. Miller-Meeks served as Iowa state senator for the 41st district from 2019 to 2021.
Annerie Maria Magdalena Weber is a South African politician who serves as a member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature. A member of the Democratic Alliance, she served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from 2019 until 2024. Weber served as the chairperson of the DA's caucus in the Nkangala District Municipality between 2015 and 2019.
