Mohammad Haris Ali was a Bangladeshi doctor who had served in the Bangladesh Liberation War. He was awarded the Independence Award, the highest civilian award in Bangladesh, posthumously. [1] [2]

During the Bangladesh Liberation War, Ali was the District Sub-Sector Regimental Medical Officer in Sector-5. [3]

Rab was the Chief of Staff of the Bangladesh Army under the combined command of Bangladesh Forces which served as the origins of Bangladesh Armed Forces and General M. A. G. Afsar Bahini was a sub-group within the Mukti Bahini during the Bangladesh Liberation War. Major Afsaruddin Ahmed organized freedom fighters in Mymensingh to form this battalion. This battalion collected arms secretly from the Pakistani Army and developed liberated area, in the region. The group had 4,500 members. Major Afsaruddin Ahmed was the Chief of Command of this group.
