Chennai, formerly known as Madras, is the capital city of Tamil Nadu, the southernmost Indian state. It is the state's primate city both in area and population and is located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. According to the 2011 Indian census, Chennai is the sixth-most populous city in India and forms the fourth-most populous urban agglomeration. Being a hub of textile industry in South India, the city is sometimes referred to as the "Manchester of South India". It was ranked the 7th best city in India in the Ease of Living index 2020.
The Hindu is an Indian English-language daily newspaper owned by The Hindu Group, headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It began as a weekly in 1878 and became a daily in 1889. It is one of the Indian newspapers of record and the second most circulated English-language newspaper in India, after The Times of India. The Chennai Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is the 4th longest metro system in India. The system commenced service in 2015 after partially opening the first phase of the project. The network consists of two colour-coded lines covering a length of 45 kilometres (28 mi). The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), a joint venture between Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu built and operates the Chennai Metro. The system has a mix of underground and elevated stations and uses standard gauge. The services operate daily between 5:30 and 21:00 with a varying frequency of 2 to 8 minutes.
Coimbatore district is one of the 38 districts in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. Coimbatore is the administrative headquarters of the district. It is one of the most industrialized districts and a major textile, industrial, commercial, educational, information technology, healthcare and manufacturing hub of Tamil Nadu. Narasimhan Ram is an Indian journalist and a prominent member of the Kasturi family that controls The Hindu Group of publications. Ram was the managing-director of The Hindu since 1977 and its editor-in-chief since 27 June 2003 until 18 January 2012. Ram also headed the other publications of The Hindu Group such as Frontline, The Hindu Business Line and Sportstar, and has been awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India and Sri Lanka Ratna by the Government of Sri Lanka.

He was appointed as chairman of the board of governors of IIT (BHU), Varanasi by Hon'ble President of India on 25 August 2020 for three years. He was the vice-chancellor of the University of Hyderabad and the president of the Aeronautical Society of India.
Mail Today is a news outlet currently publishing an e-paper and news website from Delhi, covering politics, entertainment, cinema, automobiles, fashion and lifestyle. It was established in November 2007. Its predecessor was the Today newspaper run by the India Today Group. The paper version was shut down during the Covid-19 lockdown in August 2020. Mail Today is published by the India Today Group in a joint venture with British newspaper Daily Mail. Associated Newspapers held a 26% stake in the paper, which it had bought at ₹180 million.

JW Marriott Chennai is a five-star luxury hotel under construction in Chennai, India. The 357-room hotel, being built at MRC Nagar on the seafront of Chennai facing the Bay of Bengal near the Adyar estuary, is being developed at a cost of ₹ 6,200 million and forms part of Marriott International Inc. Initially planned to open in 2005, the project was delayed due to lack of funds and regulatory issues.

The Chord Line connects Viluppuram Junction and Tiruchirappalli Junction via Vriddhachalam in Tamil Nadu. It is the shortest route connecting Chennai Egmore and Trichy. This rail route is 65 km shorter than the main line.
Pavagada Venkata Indiresan (1928–2013) was an Indian engineer, educationist, and administrator. He served as Director of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Madras during 1979-1984. He was professor at IIT Delhi during 1965-1979 and 1987-1993.
