Moira Lambert is a British singer and recording artist. She collaborated with the electronica group Saint Etienne on the Neil Young cover "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" [1] (which went Top 40 in the UK and to No 1 in the US Hot Dance charts).

Lambert began singing, playing acoustic guitar and song-writing as a child in Africa, largely influenced by the Celtic folk songs her parents taught her. While at school in the UK she became a fan of the British indie scene, enjoying acts like The Smiths and The Cure, later exploring vintage records by artists like Sandy Denny, Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. [2] She is also a fan of avant-garde cinema.

She formed the indie band Faith Over Reason in late 1988 with Bill Lloyd (bass & keyboards), Simon Roots (guitar) and Mark Wilsher (drums). [3] They quickly gained a management deal with Bedlam Management, who secured a publishing deal with Polygram. Their first self-titled EP was released in 1990 on Big Cat Records, and UK tours with Lush, Slowdive and Heather Nova (whose first recording Lambert contributed backing vocals to) followed. [4] In 1994 she toured Europe with label mate Jeff Buckley, after which the band (then featuring Te-bo Steele as replacement for Roots) split. [5]

After co-writing the top 20 UK chart hit, "Skin on Skin", with Paul Oakenfold for his Grace project, Lambert formed Ova, releasing a 3 track single, Universal Audio on UK independent label Global Warming. Since Ova broke up in January 2000, Lambert has collaborated with Freeloader and Data, two obscure electronica collectives staying well in the vein of trip hop, and contributed backing vocals to Tram's album,A Kind of Closure, released on UK's Jet Set Records.

Lambert relocated to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, in 2002. [6] Lambert studied at the Conservatory of Music, played in coffee bars, and worked with Spanish cellist, pianist and composer Dan Anies, who co-wrote two of the songs on her first solo album 'Coming Up Roses' (released October 2006). Following the release of this album, Lambert wrote and performed the theme music for a Chum Television documentary 'Survival of the Fittest: Stories from the West Coast Trail' with Fox. She released the album 'Climbing Mountains In The Night' in 2008.

Lambert then collaborated on an album of club mixes with composer Luke Parkin, also produced by Fox. Her music is eclectic, ranging from folky to stylized pop.

Atkins recorded her own lead vocals for "Not Over Yet" when it was included as the first track on the group's only album If I Could Fly.

Dolly Mixture were an English rock band, formed in 1978 by the bassist and vocalist Debsey Wykes, guitarist and vocalist Rachel Bor, and drummer Hester Smith. They had a taste of top 40 success performing backing vocals for the Captain Sensible hit "Wot", a top 10 hit with Sensible on "Glad It's All Over", and a UK No. 1 hit backing Sensible on his 1982 cover of "Happy Talk". Rachel Bor also featured on the Animus/Loose Records single "Wot NO Meat?" also by Captain Sensible in 1985. The Goa Mix is a two-hour DJ mix by British musician and DJ Paul Oakenfold. It was originally broadcast on BBC Radio 1 as an Essential Mix on 18 December 1994 after the producer of the show, Eddie Gordon, chose Oakenfold to produce an eclectic DJ mix for the show which featured a burgeoning variation of electronic styles, having begun the previous year. Oakenfold had, at this point, developed his own unique Goa trance sound, influenced by his time at hippy gatherings on beaches in Goa, and employed it heavily into the mix, which also made pioneering use of film score samples. Oakenfold used the mix as an experiment in which he tried to fuse electronic music, especially trance music, with film score music, and then to overlay the result with vocal parts, samples and additional production. The mix was split into two parts, later referred to as the Silver Mix and the Gold Mix respectively. Reflecting the Goa influence, the album title did not evolve beyond its simplistic working name.

Hagar the Womb are an English punk rock band, originally active in the early 1980s and part of the anarcho-punk movement. In hiatus from 1987, members went on to form We Are Going To Eat You and Melt, with vocalist Julie Sorrell. A 2011 compilation of their back catalogue brought members back into contact with each other, and invitations to reform and play gigs and festivals led to Hagar The Womb gigging again from 2012.
