The Cinema of Bangladesh is a diverse and vibrant entity, consisting of films produced across various regions, each contributing its unique linguistic and cultural perspective. Beyond the dominant Dhaka based Bengali-language film industry Dhallywood', which is a portmanteau of "Dhaka" and "Hollywood", Bangladesh is home to cinema in several other languages and dialects. For instance, Chakma cinema from Bandarban, Garo cinema from Sherpur, Meitei and Sylheti cinema from Sylhet, Chatgaiya cinema from Chattogram. These regional cinemas play a crucial role in preserving and promoting the linguistic and cultural heritage of the country. The dominant style of Bangladeshi cinema is melodramatic cinema, which developed from 1947 to 1990 and characterizes most films to this day. Cinema was introduced in Bangladesh in 1898 by the Bradford Bioscope Company, credited to have arranged the first film release in Bangladesh. Between 1913 and 1914, the first production company, Picture House, was opened. A 1928 short silent film titled Sukumari was the first Bengali-produced film in the region. The first full-length film, The Last Kiss, was released in 1931.
Sabina Yasmin is a Bangladeshi singer. She is best known as a playback singer in Bengali cinema. She has won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer a record 14 times. She has recorded more than 1,500 songs for films and more than 10,000 songs in total.

Manabendra Mukhopadhyay was an Indian singer and music composer in Bengali films. Coming to limelight in the early 1950s Manabendra was an innovative and stylish singer who had a strong foundation in Indian classical music. With his distinctive voice, Manabendra was an instant hit with the audience. demonstrating great talent also as a composer, using the lyrics and melody of a song with good effect. Khan Ataur Rahman was a Bangladeshi film actor, director, producer, screenplay writer, music composer, and singer, best known for his role in the film Jibon Theke Neya (1970). He received the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Screenplay for the films Sujon Sokhi (1975) and Danpite Chhele (1980). He was awarded Ekushey Padak posthumously in 2003 by the Government of Bangladesh.
Anupam Roy is an Indian singer-songwriter, music director, composer, songwriter, guitarist, playback singer from Kolkata, India. He made his debut with Amake Amar Moto Thakte Dao & Benche Thakar Gaan, which appeared on the soundtrack of the 2010 Bengali film Autograph. Since then, he has gone on to compose, write lyrics and sing for many Bengali films.

Gazi Mazharul Anwar was a Bangladeshi film director, producer, lyricist, screenwriter and music director. He earned the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Lyricist a record seven times for the films Tit for Tat (1992), Ajante (1996), Churiwala (2001), Lal Dariya (2002), Kokhono Megh Kokhono Brishti (2003), Meyeti Ekhon Kothay Jabe (2016) and Joiboti Konyar Mon (2021). He worked as a lyricist in the "Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra". He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2002 and Independence Day Award in 2021 by the government of Bangladesh. He has penned lyrics for 267 films.

Musammat Hosne Ara Sharifa Begum was known by the stage name Sultana Zaman. She was a Bangladeshi film actress and producer. In 2009, she was given Bangladesh National Film Award for Lifetime Achievement — the first since the award's inception in 1975.

He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Director five times for the films Golapi Ekhon Traine (1978), Sundori (1979), Koshai (1980), Jogajog (1988) and Lakhe Ekta (1990). Mahbuba Rahman is a Bangladeshi singer. She worked in the film industry during 1950s and 1960s. She was the playback singer of Mukh O Mukhosh (1956), the first Bengali language feature film produced in erstwhile East Pakistan. She was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1998 by the Government of Bangladesh for her contribution to music.
Shammi Akhter was a Bangladeshi playback singer. She was awarded the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the film Bhalobaslei Ghor Bandha Jay Na (2010).
Md. Khurshid Alam is a Bangladeshi playback singer. His notable songs include Chumki Choleche Eka Pothe, Bondi Pakhir Moto, Maa Go Maa, Miss Lanka, Ajke Na Hoi Bhalobasho, Dheere Dheere Chol Ghora, Chupi Chupi Bolo Keu Jeney Jabe and Jodi Bou Shajo Go. His career has spanned more than four decades, in which he sang over 300 songs. He was conferred the Ekushey Padak from the Government of Bangladesh in 2018 and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Channel i Music Awards (2017) for his contribution to Bangladeshi film music. He also received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Gaan e Gaan e Gunijon Shongbordhona, by Citibank NA in 2019.
Danpite Chhele is a 1980 Bangladeshi film starring Razzak and child artist Master Shakil. It is a children's film.
