Critical reception

The Kirkus Reviews review of the novel praised it, writing: "You can hear the voices of the masters--the descriptive economy of Hemingway, the imaged delicacy of Virginia Woolf, and, above all, the informing echo of J.D. Salinger [...]". [3]
