Clane players are credited with bringing the handpass into Gaelic football. Caragh and Raheens share a parish and while the Raheens grounds are in Caragh village, the Caragh grounds are in Prosperous.

Larry Tompkins is a former Irish Gaelic football manager and former player. He played football at various times with his local clubs Eadestown in Kildare and Castlehaven in Cork. He also played football with both the Kildare and Cork senior inter-county teams throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Tompkins captained Cork to the All-Ireland title in 1990 and later served as manager of the team from 1996 until 2003.
Sarsfields is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Newbridge in County Kildare, Ireland, winner of 25 Kildare Senior Football Championships. The club name is linked to Patrick Sarsfield's castle in the area and the colours, green with white sash, were based on the colours allegedly worn by Sarsfield's men. Anthony Rainbow is a Gaelic football manager and former player from County Kildare, Ireland. He played with the Kildare county team for almost 20 years with whom he won two Leinster Senior Football Championship medals, in 1998 and 2000. He played in the 1998 All Ireland Senior Football final where Kildare lost out to Galway. He won an All Star in 1998. He also won an O'Byrne Cup medal in 2003. He played with Ireland in the International Rules Series in 2001. He announced his retirement after Kildare's defeat to Down in the All Ireland semi-final in 2010.
Kevin O'Neill is a Gaelic footballer. He plays for his local club Moorefield and was a member of the senior Kildare county team from 2006 to 2010. In April 2010, O'Neill opted out of McGeeney's team but returned a month later.
