Morteza Dashti is an Iranian Paralympic powerlifter. [1] He represented Iran at the 2004 Summer Paralympics and at the 2008 Summer Paralympics and he won the gold medal in the men's 48 kg event in 2004. [1] In 2008, he competed in the men's 48 kg event without a successful lift.
The Judo competition of the 2008 Summer Paralympics was held in Beijing Workers' Gymnasium from September 7 to September 9. There were 13 events, corresponding to seven weight classes for men and six for women. At the Paralympics, judo is contested by visually impaired athletes.
Paralympic powerlifting has been competed at every Summer Paralympics since 1984. Weightlifting had been on the Paralympic program since 1964; however, after the 1992 Games the IPC decided to drop weightlifting and hold powerlifting events only. Women first competed in the sport at the 2000 Sydney Paralympics.
Laos made its Paralympic Games début at the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney, sending just two representatives to compete in powerlifting. They ranked poorly, and the country did not participate in the next edition of the Games in 2004. Laos made its return to the Paralympics in 2008, with powerlifter Eay Simay as its sole competitor. Simay -greatly improving on his performance from 2000- won the country's first Paralympic medal, a bronze, by lifting 157.5 kg in the men's up to 48 kg category.
Tajikistan made its Paralympic Games début at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, with a single representative in powerlifting. Competing in the men's up to 60 kg category, Odinaev lifted 147.5 kg, finishing 9th out of 16. In 2008, Tajikistan was again represented by a single powerlifter, this time a woman: Zaytuna Roziqova, in the up to 48 kg category. She failed to correctly lift any weight and record a mark.
East Timor first sent competitors to the Paralympic Games for the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney. The country at that time was not yet recognised as a sovereign state, and its athletes participated as "Individual Paralympic Athletes". There were only two: Alcino Pereira in track & field, in the men's 5,000m race ; and Mateus Lukas in men's powerlifting, in the up to 48 kg category. Pereira failed to complete his race, while Lukas lifted 105 kg, finishing 13th and last of the athletes who successfully lifted a weight in his category.
In 2000, East Timor was administered by the United Nations, and did not have a recognised National Paralympic Committee. Two East Timor athletes to take part in the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney, but they competed officially as Individual Paralympic Athletes, rather than as representatives of an NPC.
Uzbekistan made its Paralympic Games début at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, with a single representative in powerlifting. Competing in the men's up to 75 kg category, Kadyrov failed to lift a weight. In the 2008 Summer Paralympics, Uzbekistan sent two competitors: a powerlifter and a swimmer, they failed to win any medals again.
Jamil Elshebli is a Paralympian athlete from Jordan competing mainly in category F57 shot put events but also in the powerlifting.
The Men's 48 kg powerlifting event at the 2004 Summer Paralympics was competed on 20 September. It was won by Morteza Dashti, representing Iran.
Iran competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 7 September to 18 September 2016.
Morteza Mehrzadselakjani is an Iranian volleyball player who plays in the national sitting volleyball team of and Mes Shahr Babak. With a height of 247 cm, he is known as the tallest living man in Iran and the second tallest living man in the world. He was able to win two gold medals at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Paralympics and the Golden Ball for the best player in the world in 2022.
Eay Simay is a Laotian Paralympic powerlifter. In the 2008 Summer Paralympics he won the first Olympic or Paralympic medal for Laos when taking bronze in the Men's 48 kg.
Mohammed Khamis Khalaf is a Paralympic powerlifter from United Arab Emirates. He represented his country at the Summer Paralympics in 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2021. In total, he won three medals: two gold medals and one silver medal. He is also the first Paralympic competitor to win a gold medal for the country at the Summer Paralympics.
Rasool Mohsin is an Iraqi Paralympic powerlifter. He represented Iraq at the Summer Paralympics in 2008, 2016 and 2021 and he won two medals: the silver medal in the men's 56 kg event in 2008 and the silver medal in the men's 72 kg event in 2016. He was also the flag bearer during the 2016 Summer Paralympics Parade of Nations. In 2021, he did not perform a successful lift in the men's 72 kg event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Hamzeh Mohammadi is an Iranian Paralympic powerlifter. He represented Iran at the 2004 Summer Paralympics, at the 2008 Summer Paralympics and at the 2016 Summer Paralympics and he won two medals: the bronze medal in the men's 67.5 kg event in 2004 and the gold medal in the men's 60 kg event in 2008.
Nader Moradi is an Iranian Paralympic powerlifter. He represented Iran at the 2012 Summer Paralympics and he won the gold medal in the men's 60 kg event.
Viktoriya Potapova is a Russian Paralympic judoka. She represented Russia at the Summer Paralympics in 2004, 2008 and 2012. She won a bronze medal on each occasion: in the women's 48 kg event in 2004, in the women's 48 kg event in 2008 and in the women's 48 kg event in 2012. She also represented the Russian Paralympic Committee athletes at the 2020 Summer Paralympics held in Tokyo, Japan and she won one of the bronze medals in the women's 48 kg event.
Wu Maoshun is a Chinese Paralympic powerlifter. He represented China at the 2004 Summer Paralympics and at the 2008 Summer Paralympics and he won two medals: the silver medal in the men's 67.5 kg event in 2004 and the bronze medal in the men's 67.5 kg event in 2008.
Li Bing is a Chinese Paralympic powerlifter. He represented China at the 2004 Summer Paralympics held in Athens, Greece and at the 2008 Summer Paralympics held in Beijing, China and he won two medals: the bronze medal in the men's 100 kg event in 2004 and the bronze medal in the men's +100 kg event in 2008.
Ali Hosseini is an Iranian Paralympic powerlifter. He represented Iran at the 2004 Summer Paralympics, at the 2008 Summer Paralympics and at the 2012 Summer Paralympics and he won two medals: the silver medal in the men's 67.5 kg event in 2008 and the gold medal in the men's 75 kg event in 2012.
