Moses Sesay is the current mayor of the City of Makeni in the Bombali district of Northern Sierra Leone. [1]

Sesay is the sixth of eleven children born to Edward Sallu Sesay and 'Tha' Kadiatu Sesay presently residents at the Azzolini Highway, Magbente Junction; in the outskirts of the City of Makeni.

Sesay was elected at the recently concluded lllLocal lllGovernment lllElections on 5 July 2008. A formal handing over from the outgoing Mayor Alhaji Andrew Kanu took place early in August after the official inauguration of all the elected Councillors; chairmen and the mayor, of the Region.[ citation needed ]

Kamabai is a small town in Bombali District in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone, with a population of about 4000 within a 7-kilometre (4.3 mi) radius. The town is about 41 kilometres (25 mi) northeast of Makeni. The town has several secondary schools, including the Kamabai secondary school, which is one of the largest secondary schools in Northern Sierra Leone, a government hospital and a nightclub.

Alhaji Andrew Kanu is a Sierra Leonean politician from Makeni, Bombali District. Kanu is the mayor of Makeni and he is a member of the ruling All People's Congress (APC).

Kalangba (/kælæŋbæ/)(Loko: Ngangba) is a rural village in Bombali District, Northern Province, Sierra Leone. It is the headquarters for Ngowahun Chiefdom. It is situated about 15 miles (24 km) northwest of Makeni, the largest city in Sierra Leone's northern region. Kalangba is approximately 134 miles (216 km) north-east of the nation's capital, Freetown. It is a multicultural community. The majority of the inhabitants belong to the Loko ethnic group as well as the Fula and Mandingo. The Loko are the fifth largest ethnic group in Sierra Leone. As of the 2016 census, the population was 3,000.

The Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) is the national radio and television broadcaster in Sierra Leone. It is owned by the government of Sierra Leone and is a branch of the Sierra Leone Ministry of Information and Communications. It is theoretically regulated by the Independent Media Commission (IMC). The SLBC primarily broadcasts the national television and regional radio service from its headquarters in the New England neighborhood of Freetown. Regional stations provide FM radio services in Bo, Kenema, Kailahun, Makeni, Magburaka and Koidu.

Alice Rosalyn Koroma was the mother of Sierra Leone's president, Ernest Bai Koroma, and a longtime primary school teacher in Makeni. She was a longtime member of the Wesleyan Church congregation in Makeni, and in the 1960s she was a member of the Makeni city council from the All People's Congress (APC) party. Koroma, whose political career stems back to the 1960s, "was a strong supporter" and "advocate of women's rights". She was very active in the political scene of Sierra Leone and was a former leader of the All People's Congress (APC) Women's Congress in Bombali District in the later half of the 1960s.

University of Makeni is the first private, Catholic, university located in Makeni, Sierra Leone.

Sunkari Kabba-Kamara is a Sierra Leonean politician. She served as mayor of the city of Makeni until June 2023. Abubakarr Kamara, widely recognized as Lamtales, assumed office as the current Mayor of the Makeni City Council following the tenure of his predecessor. His victory in the mayoral election on June 24th, 2024, with a percentage of 93.38% saw him triumph over his contender, Kamara Amadu, securing his position as the political head of Makeni City Council.

Sam Franklyn Gibson commonly known as Bode Gibson is a Sierra Leonean politician who served as Mayor of Freetown 2012 until 2018. He is a veteran politician and a prominent member of the ruling All People's Congress (APC).

Isatu Fofanah is a Sierra Leonean politician. She is currently serving as the deputy mayor of Makeni, the largest city in Northern Sierra Leone. She is an elected councilor in the Makeni city Council and a member of the All People's Congress political party, the ruling party in Sierra Leone.

The First Responder Coalition of Sierra Leone (FRCSL) is a coalition of Sierra Leonean and international organizations dedicated to expanding prehospital emergency care and developing emergency medical services in Sierra Leone. It aims to address the high rates of injury and low rates of prehospital emergency care available in the country.
