Katanga was one of the four large provinces created in the Belgian Congo in 1914. It was one of the eleven provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo between 1966 and 2015, when it was split into the Tanganyika, Haut-Lomami, Lualaba, and Haut-Katanga provinces. Between 1971 and 1997, its official name was Shaba Province.
The Congo River, formerly also known as the Zaire River, is the second-longest river in Africa, shorter only than the Nile, as well as the third largest river in the world by discharge volume, following the Amazon and the Ganges rivers. It is also the world's deepest recorded river, with measured depths of around 220 m (720 ft). The Congo-Lualaba-Chambeshi River system has an overall length of 4,700 km (2,900 mi), which makes it the world's ninth-longest river. The Chambeshi is a tributary of the Lualaba River, and Lualaba is the name of the Congo River upstream of Boyoma Falls, extending for 1,800 km (1,100 mi).
Kinshasa is the capital and largest city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Once a site of fishing and trading villages along the Congo River, Kinshasa is now one of the world's fastest-growing megacities. With an estimated population of 16 million residents, it's the most densely populated city in the DRC and the most populous city in Africa. Parenthetically, it is Africa's third-largest metropolitan area and the leading economic, political, and cultural center of the DRC. Often described as the "economic giant of Central Africa", it houses numerous industries, including manufacturing, banking, telecommunications, and entertainment. The city also hosts some of DRC's significant institutional buildings, such as the Palais du Peuple, Palais de la Nation, Court of Cassation, Constitutional Court, Cité de l'Union Africaine, Palais de Marbre, Stade des Martyrs, Immeuble du Gouvernement, and multiple federal departments and agencies.
Brazzaville is the capital and largest city of the Republic of the Congo. From an administrative perspective, it is a department and a commune. Constituting the financial and administrative centre of the country, it is located on the north side of the Congo River, opposite Kinshasa, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), also known as Congo-Kinshasa, is a country in Central Africa. The Mbochi are a Bantu ethnic group in Central Africa. Their language originates from the regions of the African Great Lakes where they began, after a long migration from the east to the centre, over the years, until 1850. This central African ethnic group as a population is concentrated in the northern region of the Republic of the Congo. The current Congolese president, Denis Sassou-Nguesso, as well as many senior government officials, belong to this group. Mbochi is the traditional language spoken in the northern regions of la Cuvette also in the region of the Plateaux.
Cuvette is a department of the Republic of the Congo in the central part of the country. It borders the departments of Cuvette-Ouest, Likouala, Plateaux, and Sangha, and internationally, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Gabon. The capital is Owando. Cities and towns include Boundji, Makoua and Okoyo.
The Congo Basin is the sedimentary basin of the Congo River. The Congo Basin is located in Central Africa, in a region known as west equatorial Africa. The Congo Basin region is sometimes known simply as the Congo. It contains some of the largest tropical rainforests in the world and is an important source of water used in agriculture and energy generation.
The Western Congolian swamp forests are an ecoregion of the Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo and adjoining Central African Republic. Together with the adjacent Eastern Congolian swamp forests, it forms one of the largest continuous areas of freshwater swamp forest in the world. It is a flooded forest with a high canopy, dense undergrowth and has a muddy floor. It has not been disturbed very much by outside influences and so remains largely pristine as getting through this forest is called "almost impossible".

Jean-Michel Bokamba-Yangouma was a Congolese politician. He was a prominent political figure from the 1970s to the 1990s, heading the Congolese Trade Union Confederation. He was the President of the General Movement for the Construction of Congo, a political party.
Jean-Dominique Okemba is a Congolese military and political figure. He has been a special adviser to the President of Congo-Brazzaville, Denis Sassou Nguesso, since 1997, and he has also been the secretary-general of the National Security Council since 2002. He is a nephew of Sassou Nguesso.
Fidèle Dimou is a Congolese politician who has served in the government of Congo-Brazzaville as Minister of Transport since 2017. Previously he was Prefect of Kouilou Department from 2006 to 2017.
Rigobert Roger Andely, is a Congolese central banker and academic specializing in monetary and banking economics. He was Vice-Governor of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) from 1998 to 2002, Minister of Finance in the government of Congo-Brazzaville from 2002 to 2005, and Vice-Governor of the BEAC again from 2005 to 2010.

The Likouala-aux-Herbes is a river in the Republic of the Congo. It is a tributary of the Sangha River, which in turn is a tributary of the Congo River. It gives its name to the Likouala Department.
