Most Popular Nordic DJ is a voting process developed and run by Megamind, a website focusing on Nordic clubbing and DJ culture in the following countries of Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The voting process is a way to determine who is the most popular Nordic DJ. Eligible recipients are Swedish, Danish, Norwegian or Finnish DJs, producers or artists who use DJing as a way of performance. Live acts are also counted if they include at least one person who DJs.

The vote started in 2003. The voting takes place between September 1 of each year until January 31 of the following year, making it the longest running vote in the world of its kind. [1]

Toni-Ville Henrik Virtanen, better known by his stage name Darude, is a Finnish DJ and record producer from Eura, Satakunta. The Nordic Council Literature Prize is awarded for a work of literature written in one of the languages of the Nordic countries, that meets "high literary and artistic standards". Established in 1962, the prize is awarded every year, and is worth 350,000 Danish kroner (2008). Jaakko Salovaara, better known by his stage name JS16, is a Finnish musician, DJ and record producer. He is best known for his work with Finnish hip hop group Bomfunk MC's, producing their most successful song "Freestyler", and for his work with Finnish DJ and producer Darude, as well as other solo productions and remixes. He released his debut studio album, Stomping System in 1998. Presently, he is part of the DJ duo Dallas Superstars with Heikki L, and owns the dance music record label 16 Inch Records.

"Sandstorm" is an instrumental by Finnish DJ and record producer Darude. It was released as the lead single from his debut studio album Before the Storm. It was initially released in Finland on 26 October 1999 by 16 Inch Records and was later re-released in many other countries in 2000. The track was uploaded to MP3.com where it gained global recognition. It has also gained recognition for its usage in sports and popularity in internet meme culture.

The Nordic Council Music Prize is awarded annually by NOMUS, the Nordic Music Committee. Every two years it is awarded for a work by a living composer. In the intervening years it is awarded to a performing musician or ensemble.

Orkidea

Tapio Hakanen, better known by his stage name DJ Orkidea, is a Finnish electronic music artist. DJ Orkidea has been one of Scandinavia’s top DJs for over 10 years and has been voted twice ’Most Popular Nordic DJ’ in Swedish/Danish Megamind’s voting and elected five times as ’Best DJ’ in Finnish Club Awards. Orkidea has made remixes for big trance labels like Anjunabeats or Hooj Choons and for artists like Tiësto, Tilt, and Way Out West. DJ Orkidea was employed as a sound design manager at Nokia Corporation.

The MGP Nordic 2007 song competition for children was held in Oslo, Norway, on 24 November 2007. It was the third time a Nordic Melodi Grand Prix competition was held.

Melodi Grand Prix Nordic 2008 was the fourth Nordic Melodi Grand Prix, a Scandinavian song contest for children. The contest was held on November 29, 2008 in Aarhus, Denmark and the participating countries were Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. Each country submitted two songs to participate in the first round with the top placing entry from each country proceeding to the super-final. The winner of the MGP Nordic 2008 was Norway's The BlackSheeps with "Oro jaska beana".

The Nordic countries, or the Nordics, are a geographical and cultural region in Northern Europe and the North Atlantic, where they are most commonly known as Norden. Melodi Grand Prix Nordic 2009 was the fifth and final Nordic Melodi Grand Prix, a Scandinavian song contest for children. The contest was held on November 28, 2009 in Stockholm, Sweden, with Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden participating. Each country submitted two songs to participate in the first round with the top placing entry from each country proceeding to the super-final. The winner of MGP Nordic 2009 was host country Sweden's Ulrik Munther with "En vanlig dag".

Darude discography

The discography of Finnish DJ and music producer Darude consists of four studio albums, fourteen singles, and a multitude of remixes and other productions. His debut single, "Sandstorm", was an international breakthrough hit, peaking within the top ten in several countries. It has also gained recognition for its significant amount of usage in sporting events and popularity within internet meme culture. His second single, "Feel the Beat", was also a commercial success, peaking in the top twenty in multiple countries. Darude's debut studio album, Before the Storm, was released on 5 September 2000 and was a commercial success, as well. Darude released three studio albums following Before the Storm: Rush (2003), Label This! (2007), and Moments (2015).

Finland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Their entry was selected using their national final Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2019 on 2 March 2019, where all three entries were performed by DJ Darude along with singer Sebastian Rejman, who were selected by the Finnish national public broadcaster Yle on 29 January 2019 to perform the nation's entry at the 2019 contest. "Look Away" won the Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu and was the Finnish entry in the Eurovision 2019, in Tel Aviv, Israel.
