Mostafa Elwi Mohamed Saif (Arabic: مصطفى علوى محمد سيف (born March 3, 1950) is an Egyptian Political Science Professor at Cairo University,^[1] a politician and a former Member of Shura Council (Egypt)

Arabic is usually classified as a Central Semitic language, and linguists widely agree that the language first emerged in the 1st to 4th centuries CE.. It is now the lingua franca of the Arab world. It is named after the Arabs, a term initially used to describe peoples living in the area bounded by Mesopotamia in the east and the Anti-Lebanon mountains in the west, in northwestern Arabia, and in the Sinai Peninsula. Arabic is classified as a macrolanguage comprising 30 modern varieties, including its standard form, Modern Standard Arabic, which is derived from Classical Arabic.

Cairo University is Egypt's premier public university. Its main campus is in Giza, immediately across the Nile from Cairo. It was founded on 21 December 1908; however, after being housed in various parts of Cairo, its faculties, beginning with the Faculty of Arts, were established on its current main campus in Giza in October 1929. It is the second oldest institution of higher education in Egypt after Al Azhar University, notwithstanding the pre-existing higher professional schools that later became constituent colleges of the university. It was founded and funded as the Egyptian University by a committee of private citizens with royal patronage in 1908 and became a state institution under King Fuad I in 1925. In 1940, four years following his death, the University was renamed King Fuad I University in his honor. It was renamed a second time after the Egyptian revolution of 1952. The University currently enrolls approximately 155,000 students in 22 faculties. It counts three Nobel Laureates among its graduates and is one of the 50 largest institutions of higher education in the world by enrollment.

Early life

Mostafa Elwi Saif was born in Faiyum Governorate, Egypt to one of the biggest families in his city.^{[ clarification needed ]} He graduated from High School with rank number 1 on his Governorate, he then joined the Faculty of Economics and Political Science (FEPS) in Cairo University and graduated in 1972 with a degree in Political Science and ranked as Second on the students of the faculty.

Faiyum Governorate is one of the governorates of Egypt in the middle of the country. Its capital is the city of Faiyum, located about 81 mi (130 km) south west of Cairo. It has a population of 3,072,181 (2014).

Academic career

He took the PhD under the supervision of Boutros Boutros Ghali, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, in 1981. He was the first Egyptian, Arab and African to work at The US Institute of Peace (USIP) in 1994 until 1995. Since 2007 he is the Chair of the Political Science Department in The Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University, and Member of the Upper Chamber of The Egyptian legislative System since 2004. Dr. Saif has a reputable academic and political career. He chaired and taught in different Political Science departments in accredited Universities in the Arab world and Africa, as well as United States universities such as California Berkeley, UCLA, Texas at Austin, Arizona at Tucson, Utah at Salt Lake City, University of Seattle, SUNY at Buffalo and Maryland at College Park. He has worked in international organizations such as the United Nations Institute of Disarmament. He has a long political career in Egypt, as a pioneer in the field of political crisis management and security in the Middle East. Dr. Saif authored several publications and shared in several conferences on the national and international level.

Dr. Mohieldin previously served as Corporate Secretary, President's Special Envoy, and Managing Director for the World Bank Group.

Mohamed Mostafa Kamal is a Political Science Professor at Cairo University. Mohamed Kamal is both a commentator and analyst of Egyptian, as well as regional, current affairs.

Helwan University is a public university based in Helwan, Egypt, which is part of Greater Cairo. It comprises 21 faculties as well as 50 research centers and productive units which connect the university with the problems of the Egyptian society.

Mohamed Kamel Amr is an Egyptian diplomat who served as Egypt's minister of foreign affairs from 2011 to 2013. He resigned from office on 30 June 2013.

Abdul-Monem Al-Mashat is an Egyptian political scientist and an expert on national security. He served on the Egyptian Embassy in Washington DC, the World Bank, Institute of International Education and as a director of several research institutions in addition to numerous academic positions.

Mostafa Hussein Kamel is the former Egyptian Minister of State for Environmental Affairs. He was sworn into Prime Minister Hesham Qandil's cabinet, the Qandil Cabinet, on 2 August 2012, following the 2011–2012 Egyptian revolution that deposed President Hosni Mubarak, retaining his position from former Prime Minister Kamal Ganzouri's interim government. He was one of the independent ministers in the cabinet.

Omar Abdel Aziz Sharaf was an Egyptian career diplomat, an Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League, a Deputy Representative of the UNHCR for the Middle East, as well as an Omani and international diplomat. He was a Commander Grand Cross of the Order of the Polar Star, a recipient of the Order of Merit, First Class, and a recipient of the Order of the Republic, Second Class. He was also a lawyer, a member of the Egyptian Bar association, who until his death in 1993, was Doyen of a family clan of diplomats, politicians, linguists and lawyers.

Dr. Moudi A. Al-Humoud, is currently a Professor of Management at the College of Business Administration, Kuwait University. She served as President of Arab Open University, a pan Arab university operating in Kuwait, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan and Palestine.
