Motherland is the third studio album from Italian Progressive metal band Daedalus.

Italy republic in Southern Europe

Italy, officially the Italian Republic, is a country in Southern Europe. Located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, Italy shares open land borders with France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia and the enclaved microstates San Marino and Vatican City, as well as a maritime border with Croatia. With around 61 million inhabitants, it is the fourth-most populous EU member state and the most populous country in Southern Europe.

Progressive metal is a fusion genre melding heavy metal and progressive rock that combines the loud "aggression" and amplified guitar-driven sound of the former with the more experimental, cerebral or "pseudo-classical" compositions of the latter.

Daedalus is an Italian progressive metal band. Their music contains influences from different musical genres, among them rock, progressive rock, heavy metal, classical music, jazz, electronic music, ambient.

Roland Grapow (of Helloween and Masterplan) mixed the recordings and played the guitar solo on the song Underground. Nerve Design (previously seen with Threshold, Extrema, Vision Divine, and Sadist) drew the album artwork.

Roland Grapow German musician

Roland Grapow is a professional guitarist and music producer. Grapow is best known for his time in the leading power metal band Helloween, who he played with for 12 years after replacing founding member Kai Hansen. He subsequently created the power metal band Masterplan in 2001, which is still active today.

Helloween German power metal band

Helloween is a German power metal band founded in 1984 in Hamburg, Northern Germany by members of bands Iron Fist and Gentry. Its first lineup consisted of singer and rhythm guitarist Kai Hansen, bassist Markus Grosskopf, lead guitarist Michael Weikath, and drummer Ingo Schwichtenberg. After the release of a self-titled EP and their debut album Walls of Jericho in 1985, it expanded into a quintet with the addition of singer Michael Kiske, Hansen choosing to focus on guitar instead. Under this line-up, they released the Keeper of the Seven Keys albums, which established Helloween as a notable heavy metal band and led to the creation of the power metal subgenre. Hansen left the band soon after the release of Part II and was replaced by Roland Grapow. After leaving Helloween, Hansen formed Gamma Ray.

Masterplan (band) German power metal band

Masterplan is a German power metal band, founded by guitarist Roland Grapow and drummer Uli Kusch upon leaving Helloween in 2001.

Elisa Montaldo (of Il Tempio delle Clessidre) recorded all of the keyboard and synth sections, using her peculiar vintage sounds.[ citation needed ] Some vocal lines in "Sand" and "Empty Rooms" were recorded by Trevor (of Sadist). All the choir sections were sung by Daedalus.

Singing is the act of producing musical sounds with the voice and augments regular speech by the use of sustained tonality, rhythm, and a variety of vocal techniques.
