The Mount Edgecombe Trophy was a golf tournament that was played on the Sunshine Tour. Formed in 1993, it included a deep international field of not only Africans, but drawing names like Vijay Singh, whose best finish in the event was a tie for 3rd in 1993. It was one of the richest purses on the Sunshine Tour at the time with a first place winners share of R 71,100. The inaugural champion was Retief Goosen. [1] The 1994 champion was Bruce Vaughan, the first American to win the event.

Edgecombe County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 48,900. Its county seat is Tarboro.
Tarboro is a town located in Edgecombe County, North Carolina, United States. It is part of the Rocky Mount Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2020 census, the town had a population of 10,721. It is the county seat of Edgecombe County. The town is on the opposite bank of the Tar River from Princeville. It is also part of the Rocky Mount-Wilson-Roanoke Rapids CSA. Tarboro is located near the western edge of North Carolina's coastal plain. It has many historical churches, some dating from as early as 1742.
Nicholas Raymond Leige Price is a Zimbabwean retired professional golfer who has won three major championships in his career: the PGA Championship twice and The Open Championship in 1994. The population increased by 89% between 2001 and 2011 from 3,874 to 7,323. Its name is derived from the Earl of Mount Edgecombe in Cornwall, United Kingdom.
