Cooperative education is a structured method of combining classroom-based education with practical work experience. A cooperative education experience, commonly known as a "co-op" and sometimes known as a work study program, provides academic credit for structured job experience, and is taking on new importance in helping young people to make the school-to-work transition. It falls under the umbrella of work-integrated learning but is distinct, as it alternates a school term with a work term in a structured manner, involves a partnership between the academic institution and the employer, and generally is both paid and intended to advance the education of the student.

Middlefield Collegiate Institute (MCI) is a semestered, public high school in the neighbourhood of East Milliken in the city of Markham, Ontario, Canada. It is part of the York Region District School Board. It is located in southeast Markham, bordered by the major arteries McCowan Road to the west, Steeles Avenue to the south, Markham Road to the east and 14th Avenue to the North.
Virginia High School, home of the Blue Devils, educates students grades 7–12 in Virginia, Minnesota, United States. It is a public high school with open enrollment located across from the Saint Louis County District Courthouse on scenic 5th Avenue. Virginia High School has a strong music department known for the Marching Blues, the school's marching band. The A Capella choir is directed by Matthew Krage. The high school also participates in Minnesota State High School League sports such as hockey, basketball, volleyball, tennis, football, track & field, cross country, baseball, swimming, golf, soccer and wrestling. Despite budget problems in the past decade due to declining enrollment, Virginia Secondary has had success in standardized state testing, graduation rates, and school pride. Enrollment has been at a slow decline for the last few decades but enrollment has been increasing in the lower grade levels, and open enrollment from neighboring districts has brought new students to the school. Students are unofficially divided into grades 7 & 8 and 9-12. The school day consists of 7 periods ranging from 51 to 52 minutes with 3 to 5 minutes passing time allowed. Other Wednesday, students get out of school an hour early to allow for faculty professional development meetings. Junior high students have a closed lunch period between 3rd and 4th hours while grades 9–12 enjoy an open lunch after 4th hour.
Hill Park Secondary School was the oldest high school on the Hamilton Mountain and was a member of the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. The school, located at 465 East 16th Street in Hamilton, was founded in 1955 as a fully composite high school, and was the first secondary school built on the Hamilton Mountain. The school was built as part of Hamilton's need for more secondary schools to match the increasing enrollment of baby boomers. The HWDSB announced on 24 May 2012 that Hill Park Secondary School will close, along with Barton Secondary School and Mountain Secondary School. The students will be consolidated into a new, $25 million school, to be named Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School. The school closed in June 2014 and the students from the school moved over to the former Barton Secondary School, renamed to Nora Frances Henderson as a backup until the newer school is opened.
Victoria Park Collegiate Institute ; formerly Victoria Park Secondary School, is a collegiate institute in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located south of York Mills Road and west of Victoria Park Ave. in the district of North York. It is the first publicly funded school in Ontario to host the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme since July 1987, the programme is taught in English. The school is open to male and female students. Some feeder schools include Milne Valley Middle School and Donview Middle School. The student population of Victoria Park Collegiate Institute is diverse, with a component of English as Second Language students.
Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School, "Gordon Graydon", "GGMSS", or simply "Graydon" for short, was a high school that served Grades 9 to 12 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The school opened in 1957, and celebrated its 50th anniversary on May 26, 2007. It was named after Gordon Graydon, a Canadian politician who died in 1953. The school's slogan was "Palma Per Ardua": "Success through Hard Work".

Halton High School is a coeducational, private university/college preparatory secondary school in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Located in the Birchcliff community in the south eastern section of the city, Halton High School is registered and inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education and offers a program leading to the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary was a secondary school in Hamilton, Ontario, before it closed in 2019. At the time of closing, it was the largest high school in the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB). The school opened in 1970 and had an enrollment of 1250 students in 2009. At its peak, the student body represented over 80 countries of origin and the students had over 50 different native languages. The building has an auditorium that seats 750 people. The building is located at 130 York Boulevard, Hamilton, Ontario, close to the city Public Library and across the street from the Copps Coliseum and Lloyd D. Jackson Square Mall.
Nelson A. Boylen Collegiate Institute ; originally Nelson A. Boylen Secondary School was a Toronto District School Board secondary school facility located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada operated as a high school from 1966 to 2016. Opened by the former North York Board of Education in 1966, the school was part of the Toronto District School Board as a very small school, yet the student body is known to be one of the most multicultural in Toronto, with students representing countries from all around the world. The school ceased to exist as an operating school on June 30, 2016 and as of 2023, the school building remains vacant. The motto was "Veritas et Virtus".

Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School (NFHSS) is located at 1770 Upper Sherman Avenue in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and is a part of the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. Originally opened in 1961 as Barton Secondary School, and originally located on 75 Palmer Rd., it had a September 2008 enrolment of 955, and had 28 primary languages spoken within the school by students aside from English. The school's mission statement is "Educating students to become lifelong learners and contributing citizens in a challenging, changing, multi-cultural world." Students are required by Provincial Law to complete 30 mandatory credits and the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) within their secondary school career. The school also offers special education classes as well as an ESL program. The HWDSB announced on May 24, 2012, that Barton Secondary School would be closed, along with Hill Park Secondary School and Mountain Secondary School with the students to be consolidated into a new, $25 million school. The school was renamed Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School in September 2014, in honour of Nora-Frances Henderson, the first woman to be elected to political office in Hamilton. The original building remained in service until the new Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School was opened on October 14, 2020. In July 2018, the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board got approval on building the new Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School. The school was designed by CS&P Architects and was built by Tambro Construction. The original building is now currently being used as Sherwood Secondary School, as of September 2022, when the school was temporarily moved from its location on 25 High St to conduct renovations due to asbestos concerns.
Parkview Secondary School was located at 60 Balsam Avenue Hamilton, Ontario, and was a member of the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. Parkview Secondary School had a 2009–2010 enrollment of 333. The school's mission statement was "Educating students to become lifelong learners and contributing citizens in a challenging, changing, multi-cultural world". Parkview Secondary School used the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) to assess Grade 10 students' skills in reading and writing. Successful completion of the test is one of 32 requirements students need to attain in order to receive an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. The school offered special education classes and it has an ESL program. It had also run a credit granting Vocational Pathways Program that prepared student for the transition to the workplace. The school was closed at the end of June 2014, with all students relocating to Delta Secondary or Mountain Secondary, and as of late 2014, the school has been demolished to make room for parking for Hamilton's newly reconstructed football stadium.
Sherwood Secondary School is a secondary school in Hamilton, Ontario. It is operated by the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. The school opened in 1967. 2013-2014 enrolment was 1050 students. Sherwood uses the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) to assess Grade 10 students' skills in reading and writing. Successful completion of the test is one of 32 requirements students require to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. The school offers special education classes. In 2022, the school moved from its original site to the refurbished 75 Palmer Rd site, to conduct renovations on the original building due to asbestos concerns on the second floor. Construction is currently ongoing.
Toronto eSchool is an online high school and tutoring centre located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Toronto eSchool is inspected and approved by the Ontario Ministry of Education to grant Ontario high school credits and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) it self since 2013. The tutoring centre offers both traditional tutoring and Maximize Your Success programs offered via seminars/webinars, workshops, academic programs, and test preparation classes.
