Mouzadar is a term referring to a person who takes tax of a mouza (revenue collection unit) [1] during and after the British Raj in the modern-day Bangladesh and India. This term should not be confused with the gaonburha, used in addition in Assam.
The office of mouzadar was intended as a hereditary office. [1]
The name literally translates to mouza holder, from the Persian suffix ‘‘-dar’’ (دار/দার) ‘possessor’. The title was common mostly in Bengal and Assam.

Bimala Prasad Chaliha was a Leader of Indian National Congress and a Freedom Fighter who was imprisoned at Jorhat Jail in 1942 for active participation in Mahatma Gandhi's Quit India Movement against the British Government. He was elected to the post of Chief Minister of Assam for Three Consecutive Terms, once from Badarpur Constituency and twice from Sonari Constituency. Beltola is a prime residential area in the southern part of Guwahati, Assam. It is an adjoining area of the Dispur capital complex. During Ahom reign, Beltola was a small Koch kingdom, whose ruler assisted in the administration of the Borphukan in Guwahati, the Ahom viceroy of Lower Assam and in maintaining relations with the communities of Khasi Hills.
