Movinga is an insolvent online platform-based moving company with its official headquarters at Moabit, Berlin, Germany. [1] Movinga was founded in 2015. It specialized in house removals and relocation and can also be used to 'find and book' other listed moving companies, based on the buyer's preference. [2] [3] [4] [5] In January 2024 the company started the proceedings to declare insolvency. [6]

History

Founded by Bastian Knutzen and Chris Maslowski in 2016, the company began by booking household moving services for students online. In May 2015, they moved their headquarters from Vallendar to Berlin. Later, the MVP version [7] of the platform was released - a home removal platform built with Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Grape, Babel. In 2016, the company was active in at least seven countries. [8] [9] Today, Silvio Hinteregger and Tobias Hinteregger are the CEOs of the company.

Model

Movinga's business model is online based. Customers first need to provide their source and destination via the moving website. The quotation for the job is then exchanged with the customer. Once the customer accepts the quoted price, the process is initiated, and the task completed. SMACC, in a digitized process, handles all the invoices of Movinga. [10] The company has also leased street scooters (Electric Minivans) for transportation. [11]

Awards and recognition

Movinga has been awarded as the Service Champion 2020 by "DIE WELT" in the category relocation. [25]

Movinga has received the "Deutscher Mittelstandspreis" or "German Mittelstand" Prize for its "valuable contribution to the principles of a social market economy.” The award was presented by the Small and Medium-Size Business Association of the governing Christian Democratic Union. [26]

Auctionata had a team of 250 art experts who worked on commission and were not directly employed by Auctionata. These experts were paid by the minute via PayPal for valuing, authenticating, and curating objects including art, cars, watches, antiques. Since opening in February 2012, Auctionata had evaluated and verified over 21,000 pieces of art. Notably, Auctionata's experts discovered a watercolor by Egon Schiele, which was valued at a starting price of $1.3 million. Auctionata was declared insolvent on February 29, 2017 by announcing it had ceased operations.

fromAtoB.com was an intermodal journey planner and online booking platform for European travel, accessible via a web browser or mobile apps for Android and iOS. All relevant means of transportation such as train, airplane, bus, and carpool could be compared and combined within one trip. The company was founded in 2008, and was based in Berlin with an office in Aachen. Service ended on December 31, 2020 due to loss of revenue because of the COVID-19 pandemic, while AllRail, a trade association, attributes it to lack of real time data provided by European state railways.

Kreditech was a German online lender which offered loans to individuals based on their creditworthiness which is analyzed using their online data instead of using traditional credit rating information. The company filed for bankruptcy due to the obstacles presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Founded in 2012 by Sebastian Diemer and Alexander Graubner-Müller, Kreditech is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany; it particularly focuses its efforts on emerging markets.
