Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, was a Nigerian politician who was the first and only Prime Minister of Nigeria.
Gombe State is located in northeastern Nigeria and is one of the country's 36 states. It was created out of Bauchi state on 1st October, 1996 by the then military Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha. Gombe state shares boundaries with Yobe state to the North, Borno and Adamawa states to the East, Bauchi state to the West and Taraba State to the South. It is chiefly inhabited by many indigenous tribes which Fulani constitute the majority. The state is nicknamed as "Jewel in the Savannah".

The Gombe Emirate is a traditional state in Nigeria that roughly corresponds in area to the modern Gombe State. Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar is the former governor of Bauchi State, Nigeria. He is popularly known as Makama Baba and Garzali. She served as Federal Minister of State for Education during the presidency of the late President Umaru Musa Yar' Adua. Since then, she served as a parliamentarian in the Nigerian National Assembly. She is currently an Honourable Member of Nigerian House of Representatives representing Dukku and Nafada Federal constituency, Gombe State, Nigeria.
