Muhammad Nawaz Khan Kakar is a Pakistani politician who had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Balochistan from August 2018 to August 2023.
He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Balochistan as a candidate of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) from Constituency PB-22 (Killa Abdullah-II) in 2018 Pakistani general election. [1] Following his successful election,he was nominated by the opposition parties as their joint candidate for the office of Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Balochistan. On 16 August 2018,he received 20 votes and lost the seat to Abdul Quddus Bizenjo who secured 39 votes. [2]
Ataullah Mengal was a Pakistani politician and feudal figure. He was the head of the Mengal tribe until he nominated one of his grandsons,Sardar Asad Ullah Mengal,as his tribal successor. He was also the 1st Chief Minister of Balochistan during Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's premiership from 1 May 1972 to 13 February 1973. He died on 2 September 2021 in Karachi.

Mir Jan Mohammad Khan Jamali is a Pakistani politician who served as the Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly from 4 June 2013 to 2015. Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali served as the 9th Chief Minister of Balochistan from 13 August 1998 till 12 October 1999 when Army Chief General Pervaiz Mushraf took over the Government. He served two terms as Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan from March 2006 to March 2012. Jan Mohammad Jamali contested the 2013 elections from PB25 and won on the seat of PML-N. In 2018,he again contested from PB14 and won on the ticket of BAP. He is a well-known personality throughout Balochistan.

The elections saw Arif Alvi of PTI being elected as the 13th president of Pakistan after defeating Fazal-ur-Rehman of MMA and Aitzaz Ahsan of PPP. Although incumbent president Mamnoon Hussain,whose term was to expire on 9 September 2018,was eligible for re-election,he declined to take part.

On 5 August 2023,after the approval of the results of the 2023 digital census by the Council of Common Interests headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif,elections have been delayed for several months,as new delimitations will be published on 14 December 2023. On 2 November 2023,the Election Commission of Pakistan announced,in agreement with the President of Pakistan,Arif Alvi,that the elections will be held on 8 February 2024. This election will be held concurrently with nationwide general elections and other provincial elections.
